In the Name of Science (Heirloom Cafe, San Francisco): Medium yellow. Enticingly complex nose that draws you in. Curiously, much less flavor despite a fairly full, ripe wine until one gets to the very end when it shows rising rock and some power. Not showing that much tonight, but I can see giving it the benefit of the doubt and thinking that we caught it at a muted, dumb stage. Could improve.

Providence Dinner (Providence): Pure minerals; fairly racy and almost chablis-like with a slight sea-breeze aroma. Great intensity, with a long finish. Beautiful with the Fluke. Excellent Meursault although not very classic--maybe much less oak on this?

Dinner at Chateau Bagnols - Suggested by sommelier and appreciated by my wife and I. Very interesting nose with strong herbal / musky signature on top of a medium-bodied, ripe '05 meursault. My first bottle of Bitouzet-Prieur and I was impressed.
