  • From magnum. The complexity here was mighty impressive. Every sip new aromas popped up, from primary fruit components to tertiary mushroom notes. This is a very vinous Champagne. While it was probably the most complex Champagne I‘ve had to date, it has that ultra luxurious and soft Cristal texture and mousse that is somehow too soft for my liking, despite enough acidity.

TN: Expressive nose and palate with a rainbow of aromas. Ever changing and highly precise. Candied orchard fruit, brown apple, herbs, brioche and nutty notes, mushroom and with time and air coffee and honey notes and a beautiful floral component. Ultra soft and luxurious structure, with ultra fine mousse and a good acidic backbone. But in my book, this doesn‘t have enough tension. Still, an amazing experience.

Decanting: Not decanted. Good from the go but improved with time. This needs a bit of air, Inwould open the bottle early.

  • - Popped a magnum of this beauty!
    - Wow, this is yet another level after Comtes 2009 and DP 2008. We have tons of brown apple, mushrooms, burnt sugar, mandarins, with time black chocolates, ever evolving, also going towards quince, honey, toast. So intense and segmented, very precise every time! What a complexity fellas!
    - The same flavours on the palate, so beautifully round and polished, seems even younger and fresher here. Incredible length and remains on the tongue with incredible freshness. If there is anything to criticise, it is the full body. But just an incredible experience overall.

nailed it, thinking about 1996 or 95. Very balanced, close to his peak. Typical elegant nougat notes in the background. 96-97

  • The core of the palate is a rose petal strawberry jam with some light hints of chocolate hiding in the background. The mouthfeel is syrupy by not oppressive, and the finish is long but light. Fine bubbles and a tinge of acidity wraps the flavors in a a pleasant yet powerful package.

This was drank with white sturgeon caviar w/ creme fraiche and butter toasted rye bread. The rose petal strawberry jam flavors was a divine pairing for this dish. I could not get enough of this, and the bottle disappeared faster than I would've liked.

  • [Blind] Looks like rosé in colour. Viscous and a little sweet suggests Cristal to me. Rich, dense, delicious. Still bright and has high tension and acid but depth and development that suggests '02 or older but not as old as '90. Strawberry fruit, caramel, light milk chocolate. Precise and powerful, clearly a great bottle. Complex. Like this a lot today. Completely fresh and remained that way all lunch. Yeah, a touch sweet, but very good.
