What a difference from my 2010 consumption (rated 84 and said it was odd, short and metallic). I promised to leave this sit for a while to see if it would come around and I'm glad I did. At $9.99 I wasn't expecting much, but it was very pleasant. Very smooth and soft, lots of good dark fruit, cassis and a minty flavor with a small amount of licorice on the finish. One of the best values I've had. Now I wish I had bought some more.

Lots of Hero Cassis on the nose, followed by blackberries, peppery, and earthy notes. Now that it's a few years old, it's very smooth, but still with lots of body and character.

I was disappointed with this wine, after being a fan of this producer's cabernet-carmenere blend. I found it to be unbalanced - flavor too thin to stand up to the tannins

Hard to imagine a wine maker getting it this wrong from a region producing great wines at very good QPR's. The dominant oak was totally overpowering and had no redeeming qualities - just a plank of wood smell and taste. Otherwise it was fairly juicy. Don't let me launch into my retort on the prevailing notion that overall wine quality, world wide, is getting better and better. This wine would suggestively bemoan: Where are the great 7, 8, 9 dollar bottles from Chile that you could always find 5 years ago?
