  • I'm a big fan of the Ruwer, and Karthauserhof in particular. I've never had one with this much age, however, so was excited to find some at auction for a good price. The fill was good (2.5 cm) and the cork in pretty good condition. The color was within the range of what you might expect for a 45+ year old riesling: a rich dark gold. On the nose, apples, quince and petrol, with medium body, low to moderate acidity and a lovely chalky, saline finish. On the downslope but still enjoyable.
