Alsace and Barbecue with the “running” club (At home in leafy West London): 14.5%. Similar notes to the preceding Trimbach reserve from the same year. This is lovely, some bite to it, this perhaps lacks the hint of bitterness on the finish of that, it’s all just slightly toned down, more harmonious and a little less exciting. But I went back and forth on which I preferred, and this was great. Will be buying.

This shows why Pinot Gris is considered a ‘noble grape’ in Alsace. Not many areas in the world can produce such beautifully balance Pinot Gris. Served cold allows the acidity to shine with the fruit and rounded core.

Amazing better as it got closer to room temperature. Started at about 9c finished at about 14c. Next time will decant. As it got less cold it filled out and showed some real quality and a little weight from the middle and follow through of pale stone fruits. 2/9 dry
