The Herold Oakville’19 is drinking better than last year. The aromas are more pronounced, super expressive this time around. The lush blackberries, plums, dark cherries are bundled up in a beautiful bouquet along with scrumptious spices, crushed rocks, chocolate and fine Oakville dust. The texture is so silky smooth with bright acids, freshness and elegant tannins. VHR ‘18 extended age had more depth. The Herold wins in the aromas. Both are great wines. Cheers!

19 Oakville Ranch. Brilliant purple, 5 hour decant and getting better and more complex with air. Great structure, balanced fruit intensity and bright acids. An array of notes from raspberries, blackberries, dusty cherries, crushed stones, graphite, cloves and nutmeg. Grainy dusty tannins on nice long finish. This will get better with time.

This one will require age. The tannins are big and dry.
Nose is a bit shutdown at this stage. Nice mixed red fruits with barrels toast elements of; vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, spice & dry soils.
The palate is fresh and lovely with juicy, floral fruits of, blackberries, black raspberries, purple fruits, dark cherries & strawberries. Dry, crushed Rick power, dry top soils, dry brush, dark spices, black rich earth, dark chocolate, mocha powder, caramel notes, subtle dry tobacco, leather, some sage notes, anise, berry cola and really beautiful florals of nearly all darker colors. Excellent acidity. Well made, structured & balance. Solid wire to wire. Starts fruity, brings some herbaceous notes and fall on softened earthiness pick up 2-3 points in 8-10 years.

Coravined. Very deep dark purplish magenta color. Currant, black cherry, dark chocolate, and sagebrush (all these notes were lifted from Herold’s notes in the tasting room). Smooth, dry, full bodied palate, with satiny, mouth filling acidity. Firm, full tannins on the longish finish.
Antonio Galloni and I both think the lower priced Brown Label is a better wine. This White Label is very good, but no value.

Tasted this at MH lounge. Another brand new release. Very young powerful wine with loads of potential. Luscious black fruits on the nose and palate, fine dust, spices, pepper and mint. So intense with a lot of depth. It’s gonna need more time to come together. I can’t wait to taste this again with a proper decant. Cheers all!
