Melville used to make great Pinot. Now, not so much. The Pinot is astringent. Bitter. Not easy to drink. To get the high ratings they must be paying to get them. Their Syrah is still great, so stick to it!

At downtown tasting room. Dark fruits and whole cluster driven aromas (my sense of smell is currently attenuated, so no further details). Tight core of dark fruits, tightly wound with tea like tannins and fine structure. Long finish, with fruit and sage sharing the stage.
Feels like this will really benefit from 5 to 8 years of age.

Drinks like a tea. I get notes of dill and a hint of olive on the finish.
