Quite fresh and still some black fruit although quite evolved. Some grippy tannin and a hint of cedar. A nice package but I was hoping for a tiny bit more.

Lunch at Noizé: Riper and broader than the 96. Gentle mocha with a touch of blackcurrant leaf. Still quite young, showing well and consistently with a bottle from the same case a couple of years ago. Fresh with good acidity and fine tannins. ****

Lots of black fruit, very nice and matured Bdx taste. Pichon Baron shows the power of Pauillac but still with finesse. A great wine, drink now if powerfruit is a must.

(Château Pichon-Longueville Baron) Very dark ruby color; aromatic, ripe red currant, olive, dill nose; tasty, mature, tart red currant, oregano, tart raspberry puree palate with medium acidity; medium-plus finish
(Château Pichon-Longueville Baron) 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc. Strong, transparent color. Evolving nose (though less evolved than the 2002); still fruity, with the lifted, appealing notes of Cabernet Franc in the foreground. Smooth palate, showing fresh acidity and gentle, evolving fruit. Stylish, feminine, balanced, and elegant; slightly warm on the long finish. Delicious, complete wine to enjoy now and for the next 15 years. Winery Spotlight: Château Pichon-Longueville

Date night wine, my first Château Pichon Baron.
Notes of dark plum and forest floor. Secondary notes of grapefruit.
Started off powerful, but over 3+ hours in the decanter, continued to evolve nicely and mellowed out.
Very Puillac flavor profile.
Probably has a few years before it begins to decline.
92 points.

Superb wine. Another 01’ hitting just right. I’ve had this before and love it’s superior balance and elegance.
