  • From Magnum. 1 hour in a decanter then back in the bottle. Consumed over next 3 hours. The wine opened up a little more after the first hour but never really changed. Less than 1/4 teaspoon of sediment. Solid cork. Some very nice cherry fruit elements, just a little bit of the tar and roses one would expect. A touch of cassis. The acidity seemed a tad high, and the wine was clearly best with food. This Magnum would probably have shown just as well (maybe better) 5 years from now.

  • Needed 1/2 hour to open up but then had lovely, delicate nose with more than a hint of fruit and just a bit of licorice to tease the palate. Well balanced with nice tannin and not overly alcoholic despite its 14.5%. I have 1 more bottle I must drink this year for I fear it won’t last any longer than that.

  • Needed a long decant; very tasty and representative. Mature

  • Should note I'm not a big fan of Barolo, but the craftsmanship of this wine is undeniable. Huge nose of roses and cherry, the palate was smooth, but moving towards secondary flavors, although candied cherry notes lingered. Still has ample acid and tannins. Finish lingers. A real treat.

  • Medium-light garnet in color with bricking at the edges. Full, forward & fragrant nose of well developed ripe fruit aromas of cherries, plums & berries with overtones of floral notes of roses & earthy/dusty notes, anise, tar, leather, olives, coffee grounds, mint, minerals, herbs & a hint of cedar & balsamic notes in the background. Medium-deep bodied with a good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, mature & developed, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, berries & plums with herbs, spices, coffee, some cocoa & minerals. Lingering dry finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & airing. At over 20 years of age it has the structure to continue with this present stage of development for a few more years, but I would not expect any further development. Cork was clean & intact; fill was at mid point of neck.
