I have better memories of Nipozzano than this. This bottle was quite shy aromatically on both nose and palate and at first seemed quite thin. Towards the end of the bottle, the aromas seemed to develop and there was more roundness and depth. Perhaps in its 4th year the wine is in a dumb phase (these seem less common in the last few years!?). I would recommend decanting at least an hour before serving or keeping two or three more years, but would still not expect a real winner. Quite good.

Not bad for the $15 price point I purchased this at. It has 2 years of oak, which is insane. Nose is red fruits (cherries) and has some oak influence. Tannins are nicely structured, Rufina is colder and usually has some stronger tannins but this hits right. Longer finish, had with classic spaghetti bolognese. Put a little in the sauce as well, will definitely buy again. Great table wine

Color: Medium ruby/purple. Nose: It is quite subdued. There is some fruit but I can't even tell if is red or dark fruit. Mouth: More expressive on the palate. I still can't pinpoint which fruit so let's go with a mixture of red and dark fruit. Lean and fresh. Very good expressiveness and length. A hint of bitter almond in the finish. For a 2020 it is still quite youthful. After a while I can taste cherries. It is getting better while breathing and warming up in the glass. To drink now or in the next 5 years.

Tasted on day 2. Nice cherry fruit. Leather. Dusty tannins. Nice balance.

Gambero Rosso Tre Bicchieri Tasting (Bridgeport Arts Center - Chicago IL): Walkaround tasting with the producers. Big and rich with red and black cherry, plenty of spice with a clear backbone. Tasty now with stuffing.
