  • Due to the incredibly tough morning practice, I couldn't plop the evening's bottles earlier... I wish I had, especially since this bottle continued to grow throughout the evening. For being a globalized and industrial wine, it's still really good. And it stands up to and evolves beautifully with age. Wow!

In a blind tasting, I had probably stumbled into BdM territory.

Robe: dark red with light tiling in the meniscus.
Nez: large and clear bing cherry confectionary, autumnal aromas, earth-sand-mineralia etc.
Gouche: after about an hour this starts to be a real wine. Far from a classic Chianti, although the acids are in the right place. Rough body, dark fruits and a feeling that it is more spring than autumn in the aromas, means that it is perceived as atypical. But, with food, this wine gears up and meets all the dishes with gusto. It even paradeed the main course which came with some sweetness. (All other reds tonight failed the main course, except this one.)

This wonderful Chianti sails on with pride! No rush to plop.

Wow!

  • Drinking beautifully. Subtle, balanced with cola and fruit compote notes. Not too much life left, but still vibrant.

  • A tart - sharp wine. OK, but not a favorite.
