Tasted at Betz Spring Release, along with 2021 Clos de Betz, Heart of the Hill, and Untold Story and 2017 Père de Famille. Tasty, pleasant, already smooth and drinkable, but harmless and lacking the punch one expects from a top cuvée. No noticeable bouquet, which the 2017 did have. Of these, the best QPR is Untold story at less than half the price - a good weekday wine. We prepared ourselves for the tasting by having a 2016 Ch. Pédesclaux 5me Cru Pauillac the night before. It is a better wine than any of these, and cheaper than any but Untold Story. I am not sure the issue is terroir. I think the winemaker is trying to make good wines that drink smoothly within 6-8 years of harvest and sacrifices some character, depth, and structure to fit that market.

Winey Weekend With the Woodwards in Woodinville!!; 2/29/2024-3/2/2024 (Where else?): Another too young to judge wine at the release party! Deep black fruit, tar, stone, and oak. Less espresso than the Clos, but SO solid. NOT meant for easy or early drinking. This will score mid-90's in 2025-2040.
