  • I've been lucky enough to have tasted this a handful of times and this (last bottle) was by far the most complete, spherical and boxes wayyyy above its quality hierarchy. The tender (but vital) brown sugar dustings with anise, sous bois, game and damp wood aromas come through effortlessly, with amazing subtlety and authority that you seem to be locked into the nose before you know you're hooked! This has plenty of savory richness but almost an orange/citrus lift to the fruit that keep this a soley Baritone type of '69. This wine is checking all of the boxes with sophistication, refinement and complexity! 95.

  • Regrettably my last bottle of this; absolutely beguiling nose of very open secondary/tertiary rich, ripe and layered old burgundy; X94 first guessed gran cru; beautiful top note of blood orange you often get in the best bottles; this showed quite youthful (especially for a nearly 60 year old village wine!). Elegant and classy. 95+

  • Best condition bottle of the few of these I picked up, shows much younger than they did. I defer to Xavier94’s note as we enjoyed it together.

  • Second time tasting; another superb bottle that performs like a top 1er Cru (for me). This has the lithe, floral, smoke and wood scents you would associate with the appellation but the extra richness and density are certainly notable. Plenty of midpalate pliancy/give still and shows some beautiful strawberry fruits remnants with the quintessential orange top note. So lively and an absolutely spot-on example of a properly aged, picture-perfect example. Provenance is key!! Holy cow!!

  • Much better fill and overall condition than the bottle tried last December. Shared with Xavier94 and his description fits to a T! Of course we were both rattling off descriptors and slavishly agreeing with each other’s impressions. Thrilled to have a couple more of these in the cellar. So much for the cognoscenti Pooh-poohing such modest “pedestrian” plonk. Ha! 93+
