I waited to long to drink this bottle after drinking others previously. The fruit had dissipated but there remained structure of the very good wine that it was. Thin now.

I found it a tad too oaky on the nose, not sharp enough on the palette, and the finish a little too spicy. I liked the rich palette but the wine was not balanced to me overall. I was also surprised that the tannin was still a little firm.

This wine is VERY underrated in my opinion. Luckily i double decanted it 6 hours prior to drinking and it still improved with each glass over a three hour dinner. The wine has a balance of most everything you want. Great color, nose, tannins, acidity & followed by a lovely lingering finish. As for taste there is tobacco, earth, light fruit.

Brunello Blind night at ES BK. Tasted blind over 3 hours. Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of smoke, graphite, tanned leather, earth, spices, dark red cherries. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (14.5%), fine high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of sour red cherries, red plums, earth, leather, graphite, tobacco. Very long finish. Very good quality. Drink now. Vineyards located in the unofficial subzone of Sant'Angelo. I suspect there is a lot of bottle variation going on with Il Poggione's Brunellos. Some are great, some not so. Could it be related to the very large production each year?
