| Community Tasting Notes (average 91 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 8 notes) | | | Tasted by thomasito2001 on 9/14/2009 & rated 90 points: Very ripe fruit and a lot of tannins, but of good quality. It seems like all the elements are there, but not in place yet. Wait... Each mouthful shows notable smoothness immediately before the structures kick in. Some nicely defined liquorice in aroma, and perhaps a flick of chalk, although that may have been the food confusing me. Maybe a lack of breadth and concentration, although it could be the acidity keeping the black fruits under wraps. Love the dramatic structure here; the wine seems excited about itself! Will obviously last many years, and certainly evolve positively in the short to medium term. A long cork... maybe this is the Sabons further backing the long term nature of this vintage of this cuvee. 89 now. Hopefully with time it'll come together. Balanced and with a traditional feel, this has a beautiful, tannic finish. (1138 views) |
