  • Dark red. Choclate and espresso. Defintly over extracted. Nothing left for flavour or finish. Pretty much undrinkable.

  • I have enjoyed the 2003 and 2004 of this wine, so when I saw the 2000 on the shelf I had to pick it up to perhaps get a glimpse at how my newer bottles will fare in the future. The color of this wine is incredibly dark, with just the slightest orange tinged garnet around the edges. The bouquet is very intense, but does it smell a bit oxidized? The nose is brooding with stewed dates and plums, some hibiscus, and while very thick smelling, isn't necessarily too complex (but it does smell like a nice Mediterranean dessert). Medium bodied in the mouth showing more of the stewed dates and plums. The finish takes a bit of a turn after those flavors though and gets a bit funky, though I'm having a hard time pin-pointing how. Definitely way mellowed out as compared to the sometimes sharp 2003 and 2004s I've had in the last year. I think I prefer the newer vintages (those were received better in the press, as well), but this is tasty.

  • What a surprise. Because I knew nothing of this wine or wine from Molise, I had no expectation. I ate an entrecote and the bottle was delightful. It is full bodied without being jammy. The color dark red without being purple. There was nothing special about the nose but the wine was well balanced. I can't even remember where I bought this wine, but I will look for another case.

  • very dry and tart yet still managing to be rich and warm. really shows it's stuff with food. think it will be even better as it ages. will probably pick up another bottle to keep for at least another couple years.
