  • Pop and pour - when still cellar temp, immediate and glorious nose of blood, game meat and pepper. Leafy underbrush. On the palate at first, dark red fruits. Crisp acids when cool. As it warms it becomes more generous. Excellent, but never great. A little weak in the midpalate. Great blackberry fruit comes forward. Bit of star anise and Earl Grey tea. Nice fresh acids. Medium finish. If served blind, would likely guess 1er Cru Gevrey. Not obviously Grand Cru weight. But still an excellent wine.

  • PNP Republique.
    Classic Gevry.
Unlike some other recent 2006’s from the Chambertin area we’ve had, this was ready to drink.
Showed beautifully with nice Asian spice, earth and mild tannin.

  • 92-93. Stood up for a few weeks with last half ounce decanted off with fine and gritty sediment. Looks older than its years. Expressive enough and open. Dark red cherry fruit, black soil, dried brown clove, underbrush, some spice. Bottle was finished quickly with food. Not bad for $100 when burgundy 1ers are now $150-200 on release!

  • Slow oxed at home for 2 hours in glass and btl before taking to small St Dinette dinner with wine buddies. Semi translucent, slightly ambered red color. Very light sediment in bottom of btl. This is perfectly in its prime drinking window at age 13 and drinking great like many a 2006. Classic Gevrey aromas of earth, underbrush and minerally red fruit. The earth, underbrush carries over to the palate where we find ethereal simi tart red fruit, mushroom and light spice too on a balanced elegant and distinctly Gevrey range of flavors not dominated by the fruit. Loved it. 13yrs old but drinking more like it was approaching its 20th year with 10yrs plus more to indulge. 93pts+

  • Red fruit and berries with dry soil notes. Decomposing leaves with some air time. Softer in the mouth than I expected, this wine may yet gain additional depth with time. 90+
