  • BurgFest at The Kenwood (The Kenwood, Mpls, MN): Medium dark red color. Same bottle as Chablis28 who has good details on this. Dark fruits, restricted on the nose, but it slowly opens; scorched earth, very tart cherry fruits, good purity, and spice notes. Just needs more time.

  • Tortochot is an up & comer. The 2010 Chambertin was my intro and a instant head turner. I've since had my nose to the ground to acquire other vintages and vineyards. The wines demonstrate exceptional balance, purity and finesse. The winery is said to be biodynamic and has a consultant with some sort of Roumier affiliation. So I grabbed 3 of these recently hoping for that same accessibility and wow factor of the 2010 Chambertin.

Opened 2-1/2 hrs prior to leaving for the Kenwood with 7 wine buddies. This was actually more open & inviting then than later. Semi translucent ruby red. This has the same signature weightless balance, purity & finesse but tonight was stubbornly closed on the nose and a little ungiving on the palate too. This should evolve into another outstanding Tortochot with a good 3+yrs. Tonight I admired it's Grand Cru material, its brooding sauvage, minerality and Gevrey earth. Standoffish at the moment. While this has more upside than any of the other 4 red Burgs tonight, as the youngest wine present, it was the least ready to charm us :). I'll try to wait till 2025 for my next to enjoy around my 70th Bday. 13.5% alc
