I was leery about this one, but I got lucky. This was nicely mature, and well balanced. Never had a Toro wine before, but I liked the blackberry fruit.

I'm not going to draw this review out. This is plum juice. Cooked plum juice almost. I'm not a fan...but it's not undrinkable as some reviews claim. As a doctor, I'd suggest this be used as a a laxative for the elderly, or alternatively a uninteresting source of alcohol for the uninitiated.

Interesting. I had this wine 4 months ago and just re-read my note after I had this bottle. Intyerestingas I didn't like that bottle at all. Interesting in that I have parted ways with Garagiste for a number of reasons posted elsewhere and even more interesting in that I found this bottle much better. I see that " Mschanbacher" has recently rated bottles of this from 64 to 87 so there appears to be some bottle variation. Not a great sign, but...
Anyhow I had this wine over a few nights. A half bottle and recorded into a 375 and then a glass the next couple of nights. The best was the initial pour. Even though half the bottle was immediately poured into a 375 and re-corked it wasn't as good the next night. I didn't find any of the flaws that I found the first time around with this wine. In fact I would give that first night a high 80's. Next night 85. And the final night perhaps an 83. And on that night I did get some over-ripe plums, but not unpleasant.
So, drink up and have a back-up bottle on hand.

Tried over two days... still not pleasant. Dark plums and raisins with softer tannins. Either this was a totally different wine when young or the 'expert' scores are way off. So far my worst Garagiste selection. After my griping the Mrs. just poured out the last third of the bottle and demanded a proper bottle. Off to the cellar...

Dead on Arrival. Stewed prunes. And more stewed prunes. Did I mention the stewed prunes. This wine was likely never good or was cooked somewhere along the line. The only saving grace is the $10 price tag. Couldn't finish even a glass. Another dog from Garagiste.
He took his prompting from requests, WA scores and Tanzer scores, so I guess you can't fault his palate. Caveat Emptor. If you have one, try it soon with a back up bottle. I have another and I'll post my thoughts on that one soon.
