MAGNUM No Cabernet Franc in this vintage. Similar appearance to the 2014, some bricking, not quite as bright. Toast and roasted coffee are very apparent, but attractive, some more of that developed ‘iodine’ and some attractive, youthful sweet dark fruit. Medium-bodied, rich and figgy, a little raisin and some inky notes. Elegant and good freshness, some long-lasting roasted (oak) notes remain and there is a palpable creamy Merlot element.

At 15€ this is at the top end of the weekday wine category for me, but it does constitute a perfect example of one: accessible, tastebud flattering, complex, but without the need for ten years' cellaring. Enticing nose of ripe strawberry and slightly burnt vanilla, an ample attack of the same, with raspberry liqueur backing it up, before a refreshing elegance to finish. Good stuff.

Für den Jahrgang richtig toller Wein, leicht, mit ätherischen Noten vom Eukalyptus.
