Returned home horrified to find Dulcie halfway through the last bottle of this delight. Intense cherry fruit with lots of animal blood and earthy delights.

Fortunate to score the last bottle on recent visit to RWC, unfortunate that Dulcie drank half of it; at least she has taste. As previously noted, super combination of bright cherry fruit and garrigue-ridden terroir. If you can give me a better, more mature CdR at this price I would be impressed indeed.

Color - Deep ruby, Russet; Nose - earth dominated, hay, hint of green veggie; Taste - tart strawberry fruit, surprising given nose, gives way to earthy, root veggie finish. Given the contrast in flavors the transition is pretty smooth. Moderate length, surprising balance Not too complex but at under $10 excellent QPR. 89 .

Happened so score a brace of these on a less-than-rewarding visit to Randolph Wine Cellars. I wonder what school of disinterest the employees graduate from? Two things to like: one the price and, two, it's already well aged. I tend to find youthful CdR unbalanced. Dark blackberry in the glass, a nose that cries garrigue and animal blood redolent of a slaughterhouse - not that I've ever been to one. But you know the gamey smell of a venison carcass. Ton of minerality and soil on the palate with a countering of ripe black fruit, significantly chewable. You respond by saying bugger, I should have taken a punt on a score of these.
