  we visited the winery in the summer of 2001 as part of our wanderings along the silverado trail. i was not previously familiar with this producer, but it was highly recommended by a service associate. having had a wonderful experience, we started looking for the wine upon our return home. i was somewhat discouraged by the recent note of another member. subsequently consulted with the producer who suggested that the wine was showing well, so we popped the cork. purple color testified to the youthfullness of the wine. wonderful lingering nose and plenty of fruit to be found. need to be attentive since the finish is a little short. although all components were nicely balanced, the tannins could soften a little more. i believe that the wine could easily go another two years. when tasting a wine like this i am reluctant to offer metaphorical references to other food/fruit flavors. when presented with a classical expression of the grape, i believe that it is better just to leave it at that.
