Clos Vougeot - Northside / Chambolle-side Tasting (Chicago): 90/05 pair. Gorgeous, complex aromatics of ripe mature black cherry with lots of dried spices, dried herbs and florals. Lovely layering. The palate has similar flavors, just not quite as delineated and comes across as less interesting flavor-wise though still quite balanced with rich, mature fruit and acid freshness. In a good spot and should hold.

Concentrated dark rich ripe fruits are the dominant feature here and quite impressive for a 30 year old wine. The fruit is quite tasty, yet wine comes across as somewhat primary and just a bit too round perhaps. A good wine, but not particularly nuanced.

(Domaine Jacques Prieur Clos Vougeot) Bricking, slightly cloudy, medium cherry red color with pale meniscus; mature, mushroom, baked cherry, raspberry nose; ripe cherry, raspberry, lacking some focus though, with good acidity; medium-plus finish

Past peak, possible to drink but unreasonable to review reallistically.

Clos Vougeot (Chambolle/ Northside) Tasting (Chicagoland IL): Ripe black fruit still nicely fresh, but somewhat one-dimensional. Slightly lacking Grand Cru density to me. Still, very tasty.
