A decent, if not great, Ste Emilion from 2008. 90% Merlot and 10% Cab Franc. Improved from last bottle a few years back. Fruit flavors somewhat diluted. Lots of oak and grippy tannins.

Drank over two nights. 250ml was put into bottle, corked with no headroom, to be consumed on day two.
Day one, the bottle was decanted for two hours prior to dinner. Definite bricking in color. It displayed aromas of stewed red and black fruits. On the palate, similar fruit notes remained present, with muted mineral notes lurking underneath. Altogether, a pleasurable glass, well balanced, albeit not particularly complex.
Day two, the wine became much more expressive and integrated, with more tertiary elements becoming noticeable, including graphite notes.
I have five remaining. I'm in no hurry to consume them, I'm pretty certain they will continue to improve for at least another half dozen years, probably twice that.

After a corked bottle, the next was ok. Decanted and wrote this 45min later. Never as expressive as other 2008s I have opened in the past 24 months (Lagrange, Gloria). Nose of graphite, herbal notes (almost garrigue-like), confied fruit, tobacco. The mouth is dry, with mineral notes. Little fruit and rather short. Not bad, but certainly no excitement here.

Same note as back in 2020. Not much depth. Pleasant red with no signs of fading.
