From a 3.8L bottle this started with some tar and sweet earth. It gained complexity, depth and sweetness with air. There was a suggestion of licorice and some flora. It had whippy acid and good freshness to the savoury finish.

Tired wine that has passed its peak a while ago. Cloudy and rusty, this wine tastes of raisiny stewed fruits -- one can still guess a nebbiolo provenance but there is little excitement left. The bottle itself proved ultimately more exciting than its content.
