Showing nicely from magnum, this example has lots of mineral to balance its rich, black fruit and slightly truffley personality. Drinking well now with a long life ahead.

Wonderful. The attack is generous and quite rich. Great balance of structure and fruit. There is real power here, as one would expect from Angelus, though the alcohol is only 13.5%. Rich blackcurrant, damson and black cherry. Mainly primary still, though with some leather and vanilla behind. Long and good complexity. Drinking now, will be better in 10 years.

Decanted 1 hour. Decent nose and palate but nothing special, still some fruit, well integrated, smooth and easy to drink, enjoyable for an hour following. Might be at or near its peak.

So I bought a cellar; 11/12/2022-12/31/2030: Final red of my Wednesday wine committee hosting. It hurt to open two bottles - but sharing is what it is all about. I opened both bottles around 7:00 am and poured each into a decanter. Both corks were in great condition, fill was perfect, and nothing was off. These looked to be well stored, and maybe acquired directly. Definitely not an auction purchase. The nose was beautiful. Olive, tart cherry, slightest leather and earth. My tiny sip of each bottle was great. Poured back into bottle around 9:00 am and took to club. Poured into decanters to pour into glasses. This wine was different from the others. Obviously younger, but also much more complex, and at the beginning of its life rather than the end. I wasn’t able to take notes at the time, but it was delicious and had a minute plus finish. Most thought it was left bank first or super second. And really - it tasted more like a cab based wine. Really fun to serve and enjoy, but many years left.

Firm, almost stoic, old-school styled wine with a strong, tannic spine. Better on the nose, with its truffle, tobacco, mint, and red berry fruit, than on the austere, chalky palate. The wine will continue aging, but I doubt it will change much from here. Drink from 2023-2035.

(Château Angélus) Beautiful deep garnet color; lovely plum and ripe berry nose; tasty, plush palate of ripe plum and berry, drinking very well now; medium-plus finish
