Definitely mature, but still full of fruit. Equally balanced between mature fruit and secondary tobacco characteristics. Had in a vertical with 2007. Contrast, but still personality themes.

It’s always a treat to drink old wine, especially when it's a bottle that has stood the test of time. This was impressive for its evolution throughout the night, where instead of waning it kept improving. There was freshness and vinosity to the cherry, black raspberry, and conifer profile, with tertiary complexity finally creeping in after a few hours in the decanter. Kept gaining density, purity of fruit, and intensity of flavor the longer it sat and a vibrant cut kept everything fresh. Such a wine of place and it was long gone before it had a chance to fade.

Nose of black currant, and plum, a touch of earth, same on the palate, medium/big body, tasty, all the tannins I remember from it's youth are long gone, showing it's age, nice Cabernet Sauvignon flavors and richness but not as good as the last bottle, and a medium/long finish, I suggest you enjoy it now as time to drink it up.

Had with a food and wine pairing menu at a small inn in south Texas. This particular bottle was in a really nice place. Good color, plenty of fruit...everything in balance. Ordered a second glass for good measure!

(Beringer Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve) Group's #6 (my #4) – 50 pts; 1, 1, 4, 0 – Medium cherry red color with very slight bricking and pale meniscus; mature, intriguing, herbal, tobacco and dried fruit nose; tasty, tangy, herbal, dried berry and cassis palate; medium-plus finish
