On the nose, concentrated blackberry, hints of black pepper and vanilla. Still very primary fruit and oak for me though there are touches of leather and sweet tobacco...touches of cream as well. In the mouth it's blackberry cordial and black tea with touches of sweet spice on the long peppery finish. Mmm. It's a bit out of whack at the mo and I'm a bit worried it will descend into the world of oak-water...

Yet another great Filsell - as good as the 08, but considerably better than the 06 (which is regarded as a better vintage). The aroma enticing, the fruit lively. Very much a traditional Filsell with bold black fruits, but with some cracked pepper and leather nuances also, which is a bit different. Will get better for at least another five years I reckon.

Deep purple to red in colour, the nose literally jumps out of the glass with ripe plum and sweet vanillin oak.
The palate is dense and packed full of rich plum and blackberry fruit, there is dark chocolate and mocha characters that meld wonderfully with the fruit and oak, in fact it's almost hedonistic.
The tannins are fine, firm and drying and needed to frame the vibrant and concentrated fruit. The finish is rich with dark berries, cocoa and considerable length that lingers Review Link - www.winereviewer.com.au (drink by 2020)
