Shoulder fill, crumbled cork. Vibrant ruby color with no browning, subtle red fruit nose. Light red raspberries, red cherries with a significant tannin backbone. Mature fading to the fruit, but a nicely elegant wine.

FRUITY WHEN OPENED AND DEEP JAMMY FRUIT THROUGHOUT, RASPBERRIES AND LEATHER. RICH CONCENTRATED FRUIT IN THE TASTE. MEDIUM FINISH NICE CHARACTER. NEEDED 45 MINUTES TO SOFTEN

With MPL at London Wine Bar after work. Dark ruby color. Rich nose so characteristic of this vintage. Like fresh cut flowers; very attractive and open. A bit disappointing in the mouth. Bitter tannins obscure the fruit now and threaten to overpower it in the future. Finishes somewhat unpleasant. 5-11-9-4: 79/100.

(Joseph Phelps Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley) Group's #4 (my #4) – 31 pts; 0, 0, 3, 2 - dark red violet color; mature, berry nose with a touch of mushroom; pinched, tart cassis palate with medium acidity and a short, cliff finish

Tasting 8 Great Cabernet Sauvignons (Sonoma County-Russian River Area): Very inky color, lovely, simple Cabernet fruit on the nose and palate, long, long finish, needs to open and will reward cellaring for 5 more years, very soft tannins present. My #5 of 8.
