Drunk over dinner with friends back-to-back with Arianna Occhipinti's Siccagno of the same vintage. Color: almost pale garnet red. Nose: a bit of gas and a green note as soon as it is poured in the glass, but these dissipate rather fast. When clean, there is sweet red fruit, with undergrowth in the background. Fresh and enjoyable. As the wine sits in the glass and the temperature increases, it turns more towards (sweet) tobacco - or perhaps this is better described by red fruit and spices (like cloves?). The palate is fine and light, but perhaps too light: it feels a bit hollow in the mid-palate - paired with grilled meat it really had you looking for some weight and fat. But even drunk on its own it felt too light. **

Delicate barnyard, tangy orange-like acidity, floats like a butterfly, has the delicate structure to ground it in the dirt. There's nothing "big" about this wine but it has really good depth. This is a really impressive near d'avola. The grapes are grown at only 250 meters but this has the grace of high elevation nerello mascalese. It kept its composure over two nights but was a bit better the first night, so I'd drink this over the next few years.

Hell ya. Super lilac and lavender aromatics, vibrantly fruity, ashy, rustic earth, acidic. Man, I could drink this all night long. 100% nero d’avola and just a total joy to drink.

Wonderful aromas. Light for a Nero. Beautiful wine.
