I found this to be spectacular, I'm not experienced with mature Northern Rhone but this struck me as a brilliantly complete wine. The colour was still very deep whilst the nose was ripe and opulent, a touch gamey with black olive. Beautifully pure with amazing silky texture, the tannins have a dry line but as the fruit opened out they were completely absorbed into the wine. A glorious bottle not to be forgotten

Olives, herbs and dried spice on the nose. Palate was soft but lacked complexity and power compared to the 90 La Mouline. Drinking at peak. No need to wait. 90-91

Rhone Tasting with a focus on Jamet Cote Rotie (Clifton, Cape Town): Tertiary bouquet delivering truffle, portebellina mushroom, stems, iodine and plenty of black pepper. Lovely development there is a bit of funk and tilled soil to add a Sauvage angle. Complex wine with fresh chalky acidity edged with mineral, the wine shows plenty of development but the tannins whilst resolved add a gentle frame to the back-palate. Solid wine, pepper joins roasted meat and black olive on the long finish. Excellent wine!

Great character of eucalyptus, black olives, lemon and herbs....but a little harsh, lean, tart and missing any discernable real fruit. Still quite good.

(Domaine Jamet Côte-Rôtie) Medium bricking cherry red with pale meniscus and light cloud of sediment; green olive, herbaceous, pepperoni nose; lovely, mature, tobacco, olive and mineral palate with depth and good acidity; medium-plus finish 93+ pts. (went very well with our cassoulet)

Lots of olive. Great plush texture without any heaviness. Drinking really well. Not the most profound Jamet but very enjoyable right now.
