  • Friday Night Double Blind Tasting $40+ (Bin 75): Thick, dark color; nose screams N. Rhone, black pepper, tapenade, brine, granite, plum, wild berry, a little rustic; palate is rich and thicker with slightly rougher tannin than normal velvet- stems?, mineral, tart dark berry, shrill acid that comes out with air and becomes almost vinegary; more balanced than last bottle but the air quickly brought out this unwanted character.

  • Tuesday Night Double Blind <$30 (Bin 75): Briny vinegar and lemon like acidity makes this very hard to drink, some black pepper; nailed it blind again.

  • 13% d'alcool, 100% Syrah

  • Very distinguishable as Northern Rhone syrah. Promising nose of plush blueberry and plum with violets and black olive. The palate is a different story- same flavors from the nose, but the vinegar kicks in midway through with sour acidity. Called it blind.

  • Full violet color. Aromas of garrigue, spice and cranberry. Tart notes of red berry and tomato dominate- under-ripe with some hints of spice and mint. Light tannins. The acidity comes through more in the tartness of the flavors rather than in the structure. A disappointment, even purchased at a discount.
