Completely transfomed into "madeira wine". This happens way too oftern with these prestigious and expensive Burgundies and is simply inacceptable. There are other parts of the world producing good chardonnay with more reliable quality and ageing potential. Sorry, not enough!

More butterscotch although the color is less evolved than the last bottle. My two cents - or maybe four cents (big spender here), butterscotch flavors don't belong in white burgundy, any more than they belong in a Chablis.

Not to my liking. Plenty rich, but marked by some butterscotch and honey on the nose and the palate. A little deeper gold than I might expect. This wine fits the profile of what many perceived as defective in some 1996 white burgundies - not as many as people thought - also posited as a long lived white burgundy vintage, at least in the context of modern style white burgundy. This bottle may be a one off, although in an earlier bottle those notes were there, but far less pronounced.

Popped and poured. Thought it'd be disappointing but actually was pretty nice and pleasant to drink. Fully mature.
