Flawed bottle I suspect. This bottle has been been in the cellar since purchased from winery. The wine had a prune like smell, with some nice fruit up front but then followed by buy a thin prune like finish. 1st of four bottles and I hope it was a one off issue.

Decanted and tasted over 2 hours. Very young and showing no age. Wine was fresh and lively and had a Beautiful nose. A bit thin on the mid palate but filled in over the 2 hours. Wine definitely needs more time in cellar. Fine tannins with a long finish.

Appearance:clear medium garnet clean and powerful aromas that hit you right away with their depth and complexity: it took time to absorb all the nuance, most pronounced are raisins, black cherry, tar, vanilla, toast, chocolate, cured meat, mushrooms. Wine is still developing. Palate: dry, medium acidity, medium tannins and high alcohol with full body and pronounced flavors of prunes, mushrooms, smoke, blackberries. Finish is medium plus: everything works well together in this wine. Excellent now can be aged

Although I'm relatively new to Hundred Acre, these wines seem to have four common characteristics: they are (a) crazy expensive, (b) high in alcohol, (c) very ripe, and (d) medium in body, with a lithe and nimble mouthfeel. Yeah, the first three things are kind of obvious, but the fourth might make the ride worth the price of admission (maybe... kind of... it depends). For what it's worth, I thought this particular wine was fantastic, for its elegance and power, though I would drink in the next few years.
Cherry red in color, the wine offers an incredible texture that resembles a CA Pinot (i.e., lifted in the mouth, energetic on the finish, neither reticent nor boozy - which is crazy given the 15.5% alcohol). The aromas are intriguing - not your typical Cabernet fare - with notes of black cherry, cardamon, dried oregano, and cocoa powder. The flavors are forward but precise, with notes of mountain blueberry, fresh strawberry, baking chocolate, and trail dust, with a silky and energetic finish. Drink in next 3-4 years.
This is a singular, expensive, and delicious wine. I'm not saying it's a smart (or even defensible) way to spend 500 bucks, but I can see, mostly, what the fuss is all about. This wine pushes it all to the edge, but - assuming you don't fall off - that's a pretty thrilling place to be.

This was absolutely beautiful, mature, balanced, lovely spice, red and black fruits, and holding up really well
