  Deep blood red. Surprisingly youthful nose, dense plums, yeasty “big” Shiraz notes. Ripe and lively in the mouth. Not the most complex wine but certainly pleasant and easy going. No rush to drink.

  I expected very little from this wine. It has been on my 'cooking wine' rack for a few years in a dark cupboard. But following my philosophy of drink the cheapest wine first, I cracked it open and was pleasantly surprised. Drank over 3 nights and it held together well throughout. Reasonably fruity, nice vanilla oak, quite smooth. 2008 was perhaps a surprisingly good vintage in McLaren Vale.

  Better than expected based on previous notes. Still fruit present with some nice secondary characters. I can see the issue with acidity but didn't seem too unbalanced to me. Not a bad drink.
