Harmonious nose of cherry brandy, tobacco, earth and cedar.
Blindly, I had announced a Bordeaux from the 70s! This is to say that the wine is still dashing, with beautiful aromas of tobacco and cherry. The structure is always present, all in finesse, school classicism. It is very elegant and fluid with earthy and cedar aromas in the second part which closes on a beautiful vaporous finish.
Great, what a surprise!

Epic Bordeaux for an Epic Birthday!; 9/1/2021-9/12/2021 (Paris & Bordeaux): From a magnum. Amazing how the red fruit jumps right out at you. Much more muscular than the ‘24. This was big and bright and constantly evolving. Had been double decanted and it continued to shift in the glass (eventually with some more darker fruits and just a hint of allspice or similar). I don’t get much of the normal musty old Bordeaux (library, cigar, leather). This wine had the maturity from the age and yet seemed incredibly well preserved.

Who said 56 years is old! Youthful and vibrant, first tasted blind, thought it was a St Em from 1970. Cherries, cedar, earth, tobacco, with soft tannins and an elegance in the glass.

Surprisingly light but not flimsy, like carbon :-) Wonderful to have while in Bordeaux with unimpeachable provenance.
