  • {cork, 14.5%} Rich and chocolatey, per the last bottle. Dark fruit, maturing powdery tannins, just enough acidity, medium/full-bodied wine starting to hit the downslope of maturity. Medium length finish. Mild sediment, no decant. Drink up.

  • {cork, 14%} No decant, cork a quarter wet. Level at bottom of neck. Bricking edge to a very dark ruby colour. Aged nose, of varnish, US oak, rotting sweet blackberry fruit. Leathery hint of volatility on the palate. Fading black fruit. Greasy sort of texture, with low acidity, low/medium dusty tannins. Medium/full body, quite decadent, and enjoyable in a relaxed sort of way. A bit old-school Oz in many ways. Warm climate cabernet now on the downslope. Drink up.

  • Clear, deep with a ruby core and garnet around the rim. On the bouquet I picked up some mushroom and forest floor aromas with blackcurrant, cassis, eucalypt, cloves and cedar oak. A spectrum of red and black fruits on the palate with licorice weaving in and out. High, soft tannins, fully body, medium plus acid with pronounced flavour intensity, the fruit still at the fore and a long savoury finish.
This wine is drinking very well now and I suspect it may be nearing its peak. It may not improve much further from here on in as the fruit may start falling away over the next couple of years. Heavily stained cork is a concern. Drink up.
