There’s a wealth of fruit here that has started to emerge from the wine’s ample structure. Black cherries and blood plum, complimented by a touch of floral spice. There’s some smoked meats and earth too. It is rich and velvety and builds through the palate, finishing with mineral cut. It has moderate chew and is really expansive. In a very nice place.

nose - very fragrant, some leather mouth - lively, liqueresque, very concentrated, powerful wine, cornucopia of fruits including blood orange. Lovely and long. And at age 26, not really yet ready to drink. Amazingly, i say HOLD.

Served blind, opened for 4 hours, medium red, stunningly pretty nose, guessing late 90s or early 2000s Burgundy, tertiary, thought a Bonnes Mares coz the nose was so beautifully fragrant, the palate was just meditative, ponder on ... wow wine! 96+

A wine like this is always framed by expectations and while this was very good, it underwhelmed a little bit. I hand carried a couple of bottles back from a visit to the domain in 1997 and had a bottle in the early 2000s that was great. It was still a lovely, mature wine. Load of sous bois around the dried fruit with the lightest bit of structure. There was almost an umami, truffle type inner-mouth perfume with top notes of dried flowers. This wine is very good and ready to go it just wasn't firework inducing to my chagrin as we opened it to celebrate the fall of the house of Trump so I wanted it to reflect my relief.

My second time trying this wine. Sadly no formal note but i recall it being very tannic. I seemed to enjoy it more the first time around.
