  • Brilliant wine! It's like an Amarone but it is balanced and not overt. The astringency and bitterness that some Amarone's get is not there either.

Beautiful black fruits integrated with tobacco and earth. This tastes like 7-10 year wine, probably will last a decade if not more. Pity that it was my last bottle. For my palate, this is a fabulous wine. I have never had Valentini so I don't know if that is a better expression of the Montepulciano grape but this kills most of the other Montepulciano d'Abruzzos

  • Full of earth, moss and fruit on the slightly alcoholic nose. The tannins on the palate are medium-soft; they make their presence known, and add texture (though I think the wine will drink better once the tannins have resolved further). There is a good amount of acidity. All in all, a good bottle, drinking well, but just a little too fruit-forward for my liking.

  • Huge wine dried cranberry and ripe red fruit. inky purple color, soft tannins, and 60 second finish. Yum.

  • a bold expression of montepulciano. still very dark at age 9 and powerful and concentrated like the younger ones. a measure of toasted oak is detectable but the sheer weight of this wine can withstand the barrel treatment (twice 100% new oak) with no problem. an inky wine giving away blackberry and dark cherry aromas. will be fascinating to follow over the years.
