deep, dark leafy layers, ash and smoke, old leather. Still youthful, but resolved tannins. Old wood, toasted cedar box, blackcurrant leaf, mint and eucalypt. Savoury, balanced, sweet tobacco, not much else. Exotic dark perfume. A little hollow in the middle, but otherwise as expected for an aged coonawarra (but not exactly characterful). Checks the technical boxes. Sad it's my last bottle, but there are likely better 1999 coonawarra's out there.

Decanted for 7 hours. Lovely aroma of cinnamon, tarmac & petrol. Very smooth but rather gutsy for a cab sav. Lovely plum with berries taste with a hint of bark. Drinking well right now. Can't see it improving. It's at it's peak, possibly just about to descend.

(Last-minute Brunner) Smokey leather, peppers, intense dark cherries. Spicy and abit hot, interesting hints of orange peel, blackcurrants, still-stiff acidity and tannins, with a rather curious empty mid-palatte. Cola nut. Odd - we all swore it's almost a shiraz!
Sketchy notes. Developed Coonawarra nose. Smooth yummy well-balanced palate with reasonable length. Very enjoyable wine. Always a reliable label. Fully developed, but nomrush to drink.

Still holding strong. Fruit, tannins largely resolved, Cabernet, earth, an enjoyable wine.
