Pale green-yellow. Amazing aromatics and flavors of ripe apples and hay. Crisp and refreshing, with a lively acidic structure. Very dry and long lemon lime finish. Acidity suggests a few more years of drinking. ($10)

Translucent, light-bodied wine with some white grapefruit aroma and palate. Very fresh, not much white pepper. Low in alcohol, with balanced acidity, it is very neutral. Nothing offensive or wrong, but nothing arresting or particularly intriguing either. There are other GVs in this price range with more varietal character.

A silky elegance on the palate. Citrus including mild slightly sweet grapefruit and just a touch of white pepper. Went well with hors dourves of feta cheese and also smoked salmon and with the mixed greens salad with balsamic vinegar. (Don't use a wine vinegar or it will be overpowered.) Good exmaple of how a heavily planted indigenous grape can be cultivated in a way that creates some elegance. See http://www.winepros.org/wine101/grape_profiles/gruner.htm for a description of why this particular G-V has some elegance.

Ho hum, grapefruit and decent acidity, but this one was a bit boring, nothing to get excited about.
