My fav of the Krug's(76,90,96,00) for the day. Unreal acidity to freshen the ripe green apple, pear fruit...little smoke, right amount of caramel, ox...very complex. Loved this!

So great to try this...plenty fresh lemon citrus, tiny bubbles, to go along with the strawberry farm cream, nuttiness.....very complex...but the sherryness got to me at the end of the glass...wanted to go back to the '90!

Wonderful freshness, marshmallow creme, honey spice, crisp apple, almond, tiny dancing bubbles.....I enjoyed this.

From mag. another amazing wine to me....I couldn't believe how fresh and alive this 23 yr old was! Seemed like 4 or 5 yrs old? Crisp apple, pear fruit, little menthol, caramel green apple, crushed limestone, honey butter....now I know how great a perfectly aged white burg should be!

From mag. Didn't spend much time with this, don't know why?....all my notes say crisp, clean, pure....love the chalk! Wish I could have found this later on in the night!

From mag. Beautiful pure bright fruit...smoky flint, chalk powder, exotic spice....still plenty of youthful acidity...should continue to age for a long long time.

Lots of cream, caramel and chalk....riper fruit, but still good cut of minerals and citrus...nice white flowers, smoke...not as alive as the '04's or '01's of the tasting.

Man this wine didn't hit me right...my palate might have been too calibrated to the Monty's! It seemed very lite, almost watery to me...and some weird bubblegum thing? I did like the sea air, and the lemon chiffon, crushed minerals...but boy was I wanting to get back to the Monty's.

From mag. Man I love Leflaive! This had so much tastiness....spicy and ripe pitted fruit, honey cream, creme brulee crust.....plenty of lemon/lime acidity, wet rocks, white florals, little smoke. Nice!

From mag. This was a treat...not as much spearmint as the '01's we also had....cold melon, pear fruit...loaded with tight crisp minerals, white florals, some truffle honey...plenty youth.

Had this alongside the '01 Chevy....wow....there is that spearmint! Pretty cool flavor to go along with the lemon/lime , pear fruit....crunchy minerality, spice....great young broad feel...aging well.

From mag. Had alongside the '01 Batard....this also showed the classic spearmint....beautiful fruit, more complex than the Batard with some tobacco, smoke, dusty spice, brulee crust...amazing white flower florals and mint....an "oh God" wine!

Another great bottle of this....little shy at first, but giving plenty of tasty crushed minerals and bright lemon acid...to go along with the ripe peach, pear, apple fruit...chalk, subtle smoke and cream, hazelnut, flint....love it.

Richer wine...killer caramel green apple, honey spice, citrus blossoms, lemon creme, hazelnut...plenty of minerals and freshness to hold up to the full bodied fruit...I really liked this.

This wine amazed me! So transparent, rose' like...but it had the most amazing subtleties of flavors....cinnamon spice, dried roses, cigar ash, earthy menthol....all on a delicate frame...this hit me right!

From mag. pretty strong grip still....candied cherry, raspberry fruit...dusty spice, cherry cream, oak spice, herbs...young, nice silky feel.

Probably my favorite all around wine in the tasting....SO SO silky smooth with an amazing freshness...sweet liqueured bright berry fruit, mushrooms, chalky minerality, exotic dark spice, potpourri florals....wonderful!

A subtle elegance here...savory red fruit, dusty spice, dried tobacco....mellow, but tasty.

From mag. what a treat! A perfectly stored bottle...SO young tasting with the sweet red fruit, very polished....aged flavors of sous bois, dried tobacco, fur, autumn leaves...plenty of alive cherry acidity and candied spices....gorgeous!

You know you are at a great tasting when the DRC's aren't the standouts! Lots of earth and dried tobacco...dusty cherry spice, wonderful alive silky feel...nice!

I really liked this one....it had a killer Barolo-like dryness to it....sweet dusty spices, very floral, cold smoke....smooth red fruits, dried berry...tasty!

Bad bottle.

This was just ok for me....there was some kind of charred earth to it...rustic, dried berry fruit, ripe plum, some nice dried orange and rose spice...just not enough tastiness.

KILLER spice! I loved this wine...liqueur berry, smoky dusty cherry/clove spice....pure wild berry fruit, still dusty tannin, yet nice soft feel...killer acid...this wine rocked!

What a wonderful treat....amazing dusty berry spice, intense flavors, big wine....yet well balanced. Aromas of flower garden, pretty spice....pure berry fruit, some leather and mineral as well. Could have sipped on this all day!

WOW...with all the burgs we were drinking..this was a palate shock! Mouth puckering tannins...rich and ripe liqueur berry fruit...wonderful Indian spices, orange acidity, rose petal, tobacco leaves, tar and chocolate.....beautiful!

Got marsala here....ripe and aged dark berry fruit, dried oranges, tar, dry tannins....got more oxidized as it opened. Also had the '74 in the group, but didn't get a chance to taste.

2000 Krug Champagne Vintage Brut 92 Points
France, Champagne
The first wine of what would become an epic day....good dose of crisp lemon, green apple acidity..mineral crunch..caramel mousse...tasty, but after having the '96,'90,'76 later on in the day...the 00 was knocked down a bit, and not as complex.

1999 Marcassin Chardonnay Three Sisters Vineyard 93 Points
USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast
Served blind....youthful, bright yellow, tropical fruit, vanilla oak with some toffee...but completely balanced well with big fresh acidity, crushed minerals, smoked honey. Little more sweetness in this...but I think it's all in there, and should age well for quite awhile.

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru
I wish I would have spent more time on this...why didn't I?? Dark berries, beautiful dusty spices/florals, licorice, herbs...bright acid but seemed a little closed to me, as I couldn't coax out the greatness of GC Dujac.

Blind....sweet ripe fruit, stems, very nice dark candied spice, beautiful florals, smooth feel, but a little heat to the finish. Seems to have the sweetness and structure to age quite awhile.

Last wine of the lunch...and totally geared me up for dinner later on in the day with tons more GC white burgs! SO SO good...the perfect integration of freshness and aged complexity.......pitted fruit, green apple, lemon...smoked honey, white flowers....nice healthy weight, chalky feel...exotic with the sweet sulfur funk, crushed minerals, salted caramels....but laser beam citrus acid freshness.....killer!
