  • 2010 Château Bouscaut 90 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan

For me personally this was a pleasant surprise. Classical bouquet with ripe dark forest fruits, graphite and also some smoke. On the palate the same impressions. Good acidity, some sweetness and a long finish.

  • 2010 Domaine de Chevalier 94 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan

One of the better wines of the day. In the bouquet beautifully ripe dark forest fruits and luxurious aromas of cedar, smoke, cigar box etc. On the palate the same luxury and fruits. Ripe and round tannin. A beautiful, fairly mild and not edgy wine. 94+

  • 2010 Château de Fieuzal 91 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan

Beautiful bouquet with dark forest fruits, toasted oak and smoke. There are some sweet spices, good acidity and tannin. The sweetness makes this a relatively easy to like wine. 91+

  • 2010 Château de France 89 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan

Ripe dark fruits in the bouquet and luxurious oak. Same on the palate. The difference with most 2010 Bordeaux is that the wine is relatively round and supple. Good balance between sweetness and acidity and round, mild tannin.

  • 2010 Château Haut-Bailly 94 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan

The bouquet is reticent but the ripe dark fruits are there and luxurious oak as well, but the latter is very well dosed and not overdone. On the palate very concentrated with ripe dark fruits and graphite. Soft and round, but powerful tannin. Withhold power. This wine holds the middle between classical and modern made. Looking forward to taste this regularly from 2022 onwards. 94++

  • 2010 Château La Louvière 92 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan

The bouquet has creamy dark fruits and a lot of toasted oak. Same on the palate. It is very modern made and luxurious and the fruits can handle the oak. Ok balance between sweetness and acidity. The tannin is fairly round and mild.

  • 2010 Château Latour-Martillac 92 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan

In the bouquet beautiful ripe dark forest fruits, graphite and well dosed luxurious oak. On the palate a tempting wine; concentrated dark fruits, some licorice and sweet spices and relatively soft tannin as well as beautiful oak. Will probably be easy to drink young and has a good future as well.

  • 2010 Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion 90 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan

This wine is a bit controversial; there are concentrated dark forest fruits, even some graphite, but then you also expect luxurious oak aromas like some smoke and tobacco, but at this moment they don't really show. On the palate however the oak is there. Good fruit juice and concentration. The tannin is a bit edgy. Overall 89 - 91; can't make up my mind.

  • 2010 Château Malartic-Lagravière 89 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan

This wine is a-typical from other Pessac wines, because the dark forest fruits seem to be even overripe. On the palate it is the same. It gives the wine some lushness and the wine is certainly ok, but I miss some real backbone because of this. The balance between sweetness and acidity is ok. This will be one of the earlier accessible 2010 wines I suppose.

  • 2010 Château Olivier 88 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan

In the bouquet almost overripe dark fruits. On the palate as well. Some smoke. Some vanilla from the oak. Certainly an ok wine, but not one of the most impressive 2010 Pessac wines.

  • 2010 Château Pape Clément 94 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan

This is again a success for the vintage. The bouquet is very luxurious with smoke, cedar, ripe black berry fruits and sweet spices. On the palate the same and especially that smoky sensation and the beautiful ripe fruits. Beautiful balance between acidity and sweetness, soft but powerful tannin and bitterness. One of the wines I would like to try again starting at the age of 12; so around 2022. 94++

  • 2010 Château Smith Haut Lafitte 93 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan

Imho the 2010 Smith Haut Lafitte is slightly different from other recent vintages; the oak is a little less prominent and the wine shows more elegance, but be sure this is still a great wine with a long future. There is good dark fruit juice, and certainly some beautiful oak in the bouquet as well as the taste. Some licorice and sweet spices. Good concentration and beautiful acidity and tannin. More classical than expected. 93++

  • 2010 Château Balestard La Tonnelle 90 Points

France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru

Beautiful bouquet with ripe dark forest fruits, a pleasant dose of good oak and some sweet spices. On the palate a beautiful classical wine. Good ripe dark fruit juice like blackberries, some bell peppers, good acidity and tannin and medium length. It needs ageing, but I am positive about the future for this wine. Start 2021/2022. 90+

  • 2010 Château Berliquet 88 Points

France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru

Beautiful dark fruits and pleasant usage of oak in the bouquet as well as on the palate. There a firm dose of acidity and the tannin is fairly mild, but also a bit sticky and green. Wait at least until 2019. 88+

  • 2010 Château Canon 93 Points

France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru

Beautiful and luxurious bouquet with good dark fruits, exclusive oak and elegance as well. On the palate a classical start with good acidity, dark fruits, some sweet spices and beautiful oak again. Compared to other 2010 St. Emilions the tannin seems to be a bit sweet and mild. The wine has a good length and a great future. Curious how this will taste around 2020. 93+

  • 2010 Château Canon-la-Gaffelière 93 Points

France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru

Beautiful bouquet with dark fruits and not overdone, beautiful oak. On the palate ripe dark forest fruits, sweet licorice and some graphite. Beautiful acidity, mild and supple tannin and a good length. Tasted this wine beside Canon, and I think the Canon is a little more luxurious. Nevertheless I scored both wines 93+. I am not sure who will be the winner in the long run.

  • 2010 Château Cap de Mourlin 89 Points

France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru

Beautiful and smoky bouquet with dark fruits as well. On the palate a sweet start, followed by dark fruits like cassis. Juicy and ok acidity and tannin which is a bit green; could it be the Cabernet Franc? I don't know how much CF is in this wine. Needs some ageing. Wait until 2019 - 2020+. My score 89(+).

  • 2010 Château Figeac 94 Points

France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru

Luxurious bouquet with ripe dark forest fruits and beautiful toasted oak, cedar, tobacco and smoke. On the palate a great concentration of dark fruit juice, beautiful oak again, smoke, dark chocolate and good acidity. The tannin is creamy and soft, but also a bit sticky. Soft bitterness. Extremely youthful, but also a very harmonious wine. All 2010's needs ageing, but this wine could well be one of the outperformers. Start in 2020 and then a bottle every 4-5 years to see what happens…..;-) Would be great!

  • 2010 Château La Croix de Gay 94 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol

The bouquet is very expressive and luxurious with ripe dark forest fruits, tobacco, cigar box, smoke etc. On the palate lush, a lot of sweetness, ripe dark fruits, good acidity, sweet spices and soft and round tannin. Nothing green and edgy/sticky many right bank wines show. I did not taste/drink this wine of other recent vintages, but for me this is the best wine I ever tasted of this domain. Not sure if it has an enormous ageing potential, but it is already a great pleasure now. Will be a nice wine to follow over the next decade.

  • 2010 Château La Pointe 88 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol

The bouquet is complex with good dark fruits and pleasant oak, but there is also something green and vegetal. On the palate a mouth filling wine with a start of ripe sweet forest fruits, good acidity and tannin as well as a pleasant dose of oak. Lacks a bit in luxury at the moment, but possibly around 2020 it shows more. My score is for today. Possibly a few points more when more mature. 88+

  • 2010 Château du Tertre 88 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

Primary, mainly cherry fruits in the bouquet. Same on the palate. Some dark forest fruits and pleasant oak as well, but in this very primary stage, finesse and complexity are hidden. For now 88, but in 10 years from now probably a bit more.

  • 2010 Château Durfort-Vivens 89 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

Dark and red berry fruits in the bouquet, pleasant oak, and also some metal impressions. Same on the palate, a touch of sweetness, some bell peppers, medium concentration. Pleasant and elegant wine. Is overall very ok but lacks some refinement in this stage. For me personally a bit controversial wine. • 2010 Château Labégorce 88 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

The bouquet shows dark fruits and good oak, but there are also some green impressions like green bell peppers. On the palate the same. More classical than modern made. Not extremely elegant, but certainly a very good wine. Try around 2020 to see what has happened.

  • 2010 Château Lascombes 94 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

Beautifully ripe dark forest fruits, toasted oak, cedar, cigar box etc. in the bouquet. On the palate a pleasant somewhat sweet start, beautiful dark fruits, exclusive oak which the fruits can handle and a beautiful balance between sweetness and acidity. Mild, but powerful tannin and a good concentration. In this stage definitely one of the better Margaux wines I tasted. At this moment the wine gives the impression it will be easy to drink starting from now and it will not close down, although there is plenty potential. In general 2000 wines gave the same impression in their youth, but many did shut down, so for this Lascombes I don't know. It won't hurt to wait until 2020 or 2022 to try how in shows then. For now 93 - 94.

  • 2010 Château Rauzan-Gassies 90 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

Perfumed bouquet with luxurious oak and red as well as dark forest fruits. On the palate juicy fruits, bell peppers, firm and sticky tannin. The mouth doesn't follow the nose completely and shows less finesse and elegance. Maybe in 10 - 15 years there is more harmony, but for now I just score it 90. Hope to try this again around 2022.

  • 2010 Château Rauzan-Ségla 94 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

This is one of my favorite 2010 wines I tasted so far. Luxurious bouquet with dark fruits, smoke and beautiful oak. On the palate also a lot of luxurious oak, beautiful dark fruits, supple and round tannin with a good bite and the wine has great length. Of course everything has to integrate, but this is a lush wine already. Great effort! Will probably offer great pleasure from 2018 onwards (at least until 2030?).

  • 2010 Château Beychevelle 91 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien

Beautiful and deep, complex bouquet with dark fruits and exclusive toasted oak. On the palate a very classical wine. The oak is a little less luxurious compared to the bouquet, but there are dark fruits like cassis and some graphite. Lacks a little refinement in this stage, but has a great length. For now 91, but with some ageing of 12 - 15+ years that could be a few point higher.

The bouquet is a bit reticent and shows some bell peppers. On the palate there is much more luxury with concentrated black fruits like cassis and other dark forest fruits. • 2010 Château Gruaud Larose 95 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien

Although I was a great admirer of this wine in the late 70's and the 80's it did not impress so much for many years in my memory, but be sure; this is one of the greatest Gruauds ever. The bouquet is very complex, luxurious and with a lot of dark fruits, smoke, cigar box, tobacco and graphite. On the palate a juicy start followed by dark fruits, sweet spices, good acidity and a lot of good and firm tannin and great length. Back on top. A very luxurious wine. Probably wise to wait until 2025 at least but this will be great until 2035 - 2040 and maybe even longer. 95+

Beautiful bouquet with good oak, dark fruits and sweet spices. On the palate dark fruits, bell pepper, sweet spices good acidity and firm tannin. Classical and concentrated. Good concentration. An extremely good wine, but not belonging to the very best 2010's I tasted so far. Try around 2022 and it will probably be even better around 2025.

  • 2010 Château Langoa Barton 91 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien

The bouquet is a bit reticent, but it is classical with dark cassis and beautiful oak. On the palate the oak is dominating in this stage but there are dark fruits, good acidity and tannin and a touch of pleasant sweetness. Everything in this wine is quite ok, but it all has to integrate. Give it at least 10 - 12 years of cellaring; so until 2020 - 2022 and then see how it shows.

Good tart citrus, pleasant dose of sweetness and some bitterness. There is a firm amount of well dosed toasted oak which the fruit can handle.

Good and fresh bouquet with pronounced oak. Same on the palate. The oak is not integrated yet and the bitterness is in this stage a bit aggressive. 87-88 now.

Enormously luxurious bouquet with good fruits and exclusive well dosed toasted oak and some minerals. The same impressions on the palate. A very tempting and luxurious wine already.

  • 2010 Château Léoville Barton 94 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien

Second time I taste this wine and it is great! Beautiful and classical bouquet with ripe dark forest fruits, graphite and beautiful, luxurious oak. On the palate the same impressions. Good acidity and tannin. Classical and elegant. Great length. Not over-concentrated, but exactly what you expect from this classical claret. Will deliver great pleasure for several decades. Now still open and friendly, but probably wise to wait until 2022 at least.

  • 2010 Château Léoville Poyferré 96 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien

This is a completely different style than the Léoville Barton. Much more modern. Loaded with ripe dark forest fruits and luxurious oak. On the palate very luxurious and ripe dark fruits as well. Concentrated and soft juice with a good backbone. Round, but powerful tannin, good acidity and also a firm amount of sweetness. A lush and luxurious wine. I wonder if this will close down or will be friendly from start to finish….around 2030+?

  • 2010 Château Saint-Pierre 95 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien

This wine has a Pauillac-like bouquet with good ripe dark forest fruits, graphite and exclusive toasted oak. On the palate a sweet, but also classical start with a lot of ripe dark forest fruits but also good and firm tannin with a nice bite. Very tempting and luxurious. Lovely already, but with more ageing this will be an extreme beauty. 95 for now and potential for more. Around 2024+?

  • 2010 Château Talbot 89 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien

Beside the black fruits and good oak there are also some green and bell pepper impressions in the bouquet. On the palate in fact the same. Not extremely concentrated. Good acidity and tannin and certainly pleasurable, but more an elegant medium weight. Not even a shadow of what this wine was in the early 80's. Do not misunderstand: this is a nice wine, but in a vintage like this, based upon previous experiences, I expect Talbot to make an outstanding wine, and that is not what this is. It is just very good… 89 for now, probably a bit more with some age on it.

  • 2010 Château Batailley 90 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

Classical bouquet with beautiful ripe dark fruits, sweet spices and luxurious oak. On the palate ripe dark fruits as well and a lot of vanilla, round tannin, some sweetness and a good , but not extreme length. Very ok wine, but lacks the finesse and complexity to belong to the really great wines. Drink from 2022 onwards.

  • 2010 Château Grand-Puy Ducasse 88 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

In this stage the bouquet is not extremely expressive. On the palate also light and elegant. There are some dark forest fruits, good oak, bell peppers, good oak and sticky tannin, but overall this is not a great wine. Very acceptable though. Drink starting 2020+

  • 2010 Château Haut-Bages Libéral 89 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

The bouquet is reticent, but it shows cassis and good oak. On the palate ok black fruit juice, classical with some graphite and green bell pepper, good balance between sweetness, acidity, tannin and bitterness. Very ok wine. Not extremely concentrated, but classical and elegant. Start drinking from 2022 onwards.

  • 2010 Château Lynch-Bages 93 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

Not extremely dark colored. In the bouquet cassis, dark forest fruits, sweet spices, graphite and beautiful oak. In this youthful stage a bit reticent and stubborn, but the same fruits and round tannin on the palate. A touch of sweetness. At this moment I am not extremely impressed, but around 2024 the wine will tell what it has in store. 92-93 for today, but probably higher around 2024+

Dark fruits, sweet spices and good oak in the bouquet. On the palate nice and ripe dark fruits juice, well dosed oak, good acidity, round tannin and bitterness. Certainly a very ok wine, but lacking the concentration, luxury and finesse of the truly great wines. Try around 2020.

Expressive dark forest fruits like blackberry, cassis and blueberry in the perfumed bouquet with just a light dose of beautiful oak. Same on the palate. Mild tannin and acidity. A beautiful, complex and elegant, feminine wine. Try around 2022.

In the bouquet as well as on the palate a fairly modern made wine with a lot of good juicy fruits, some sweetness, supple and round tannin and pleasant acidity. A friendly medium weight with also a good future. Try again around 2020.

It is many years ago I tasted this wine and the style changed 360°. From very classical to very modern. And, although I liked the old style, this 2010 wine is a great pleasure as well. A rich bouquet with a lot of dark fruits and beautifully toasted oak. On the palate the same with a bit sweet, juicy fruits, good acidity and round tannin and bitterness. In fact already a very tempting and pleasurable wine. In the past this was a wine for the long run, but with this change of style I am not sure if this is still the case. Time will tell and I would love to taste this wine again around 2020 - 2024 to see how it developed. 91 for now.

In the bouquet dark fruits, smoke, sweet spices and beautiful oak. On the palate the same impressions, but also some bell pepper and firm acidity and tannin which is round as well. Good concentration. A truly classical St. Estèphe and I think this wine can last a few decades. Wait at least until 2022 - 2024. For now 91+

  • 2010 Château Ormes de Pez 91 Points

Dark forest fruits and cassis in the bouquet as well as good oak. On the palate a wine with juicy dark fruits, good oak and a lot of (good) acidity and bitterness. One of the most classical style wines of the day and I love it. This can probably last longer than many expect. Would like to try again around 2022.

The bouquet is quite locked but shows some dark forest fruits. On the palate the wine is friendly with dark forest fruits and round, slightly sticky tannin. In this early stage the wine doesn't show much of its finesse, but I think that around 2020+ there is more to discover. For today 88++

Just limited notes. There is orange peel, honey and good citrus in this concentrated wine. A lot of sweetness and a bit fat. Despite of the citrus the wine lacks a bit in fresh acidity in this early stage. Nevertheless a beautiful wine.
