Flight 1 (1 note)

White - Sparkling
2000 Krug Champagne Clos du Mesnil France, Champagne
95 points
Deep lemony colour with golden highlights. Nose is very fresh and intense, it gives an almost unripe feeling, notes of sour youghurt, nuttiness, quince, green citrus fruit, yeast and oxidative notes. Very youthful but complex. Palate is nutty, very flavorful, with quince, citrus, toast and caramel. Creamy persistent mousse. Excelletn balance between acidity and fruit. Elegant and powerful wine with long bitter finish.

Flight 2 (1 note)

White - Sparkling
1995 Krug Champagne Vintage Brut France, Champagne
94 points
Golden colour. Nose is somewhat heavy and mature. Chocolate notes, coffee, comppote of citrus fruit and grilled notes as well as citrus and florality. Palate with brioche, wet bread, quince, toast, coffee. Has a metallic feel, also oxidative notes, chocolate and walnuts. Very intense with creamy mousse.

Flight 3 (1 note)

White - Sparkling
1996 Krug Champagne Vintage Brut France, Champagne
98 points
Golden colour with fine mousse. Amazing nose reminiscent of a mature Bordeaux wine: cedar, leather, old wood, lactic notes and ground coffee. I think if tasted blind (literally) from the nose I would have guessed a red wine. Amazing nose, indescribable complexity, harmony and intensity. Palate is yeasty, toasty, with ripe citrus fruit, bitter finish and high acidity which balances extract. Harmonious and with great freshness which balances maturity. One of the most profound wines I've ever tasted.

Flight 4 (1 note)

White - Sparkling
1998 Krug Champagne Vintage Brut France, Champagne
94 points
Quite large bubbles. Shy nose with yeasty notes and quince. Palate shows some maturity. Flavours include toast, yeast, ripe citrus and honey. Oxidative notes are prominent but very balanced. Acidity is high. Somewhat untypical, lacks the freshness and harmony of the other vintages which were tasted that day. Still a profound Champagne.

Flight 5 (1 note)

White - Sparkling
2000 Krug Champagne Vintage Brut France, Champagne
94 points
Deep lemon green colour with golden highlights. Nose with yeast, coffee, and toast alongside the citrus fruit. Palate with toast, quince, ripe citrus peel. Lacks somehow the intensity and persistence of Clos du Mesnil from the same vintage but still it is harmonious with a long refreshingly bitter aftertaste.

Flight 6 (1 note)

White - Sparkling
1989 Krug Champagne Vintage Brut Collection France, Champagne
97 points
Released in 2010, it is golden coloured and offers intense quince and coffee notes, brioche and honey. Very elegant nose. Palate is redolent with ripe tropical fruit, quince, citrus fruit, caramel. Elegant and powerful wine. Finish is unending with notes of coffee, toast and burnt sugar.

Flight 7 (1 note)

White - Sparkling
N.V. Krug Champagne Brut Grande Cuvée France, Champagne
94 points
For this cuvee, 2003 vintage was used as the base wine. Wil be released in summer 2012. Citrucy nose with freshness and intensity, honey notes, florality, nuttyness, also present are yeasty notes. Palate is elegant with high acidity. Very powerful - needs time to mellow. Quince and oxidative notes.

Flight 8 (1 note)

White - Sparkling
N.V. Krug Champagne Brut Grande Cuvée France, Champagne
95 points
This one is base on the 2001 vintage. Nose with youghurt, toast, coffee and yeast. Shows some development. Some similarity to the magnificant Krug '96: honey, cocoa, peanuts. Palate is very beautiful, oxidative with notes of quince, toast, brioche, bread and caramel. Balanced and elegant.
