Flight 1 (4 notes)

Red
1998 Château Bellegrave (Pomerol) France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
90 points
Quite evolved, mature but lively colour, medium weight, crushed fruits, warm vintage, charming, mature but has energy and good balance.
Red
2007 Château Rouget France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
87 points
Young, quite tight but with a nice creaminess, lovely berry fruit, good length, modern, toasty oak, lacks some weight and stuffing. 2007 probably?
Red
2001 Château La Conseillante France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
88 points
Rather vegetal, bay, drying, light, opens up to more expressive oak, does not seem very old yet, 2004 perhaps? One gets the impression this is not a perfect bottle.

Red
1996 Château Nenin France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
86 points
Relatively light and dry, completely ready, not a lot of energy or interest. Will dry out, drink up.

Flight 2 (4 notes)

Red
1999 Château La Grave a Pomerol Trigant de Boisset France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
90 points
Mature, evolved colour; delicious ripe, creamy tannins, lovely balance, well-rounded, charme and finesse, good structure and freshness, harmonious.
Red
2004 Château Latour à Pomerol France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
89 points
A bit closed, quite powerful, classically structured, nice balance and length, good intensity and persistence.
Red
2006 Château Lagrange (Pomerol) France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
92 points
Crisp, fresh fruit, taut, lovely ripe, even velvety tannins, classic, very good quality. 2006 character very much in evidence.
Red
2002 Château Certan-Marzelle France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
88 points
Relatively light colour, not a lot of oak, somewhat drying in the tannins, not without charm but lacks a certain amount of stuffing. Very young for its age - I thought it might be 2007.

Flight 3 (4 notes)

Red
1999 Château de Sales France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
93 points
First bottle was less than perfect. The second one had 10 minutes of glory. Fully mature, delicate and decadent, all elements perfectly melted together, perfumed (Chanel No 5 - jasmin), incredibly seductive, "une grande horzontale", "très sexuel", superb. Woop woop. And then it faded into mediocrity (88 points).
Red
2005 Château Petit Village France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
93 points
Very high quality wood, modern style, seductive, Rolland-like, lovely stuffing and juice, first-rate.
Red
1998 Château La Pointe France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
88 points
Farmyardy to the point of brett but this lifts slightly, hint of vanilla, medium weight, elegant but drying, drink up.
Red
2006 Château de Sales France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
87 points
Unripe, grassy notes, thin and drying, tight acidity, cherry stones, chocolate, this is not going anywhere.

Flight 4 (4 notes)

Red
1989 Château Feytit Clinet France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
86 points
Aniseed, fully mature but not over the hill, smooth, charming, fades quickly in the glass.
Red
1995 Château Feytit Clinet France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
86 points
Lovage, more vital than the 1989 but very vegetal, bay leaf, drying, lacks stuffing.
Red
1997 Château Gazin Pomerol France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
85 points
Very vegetal, drying bitters, unripeness.
Red
1999 Château Feytit Clinet France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
87 points
There is a certain unripeness, peppers, vegetables, tight but sweetish at the same time, unknit, lacks stuffing.

Flight 5 (6 notes)

Red
1998 Château Gazin Pomerol France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
90 points
Quite evolved, nice crushed fruits, lovely balance, elegant, quite tannic.
Red
1999 Château Gazin Pomerol France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
90 points
Slightly closed, fragrant oak, charming, opens up very well, perfumed.
Red
2000 Château Gazin Pomerol France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
90 points
Sweet fruit but very drying on the palate, edgy acidity. Not a perfect bottle, it would seem.
Red
2001 Château Gazin Pomerol France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
93 points
Rich, complete and classic, some evolution but wonderful vitality, powerful yet elegant, a beauty.
Red
2002 Château Gazin Pomerol France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
91 points
Quite a surprise, young, rich tannins, classically structured, friendly but with a lot of potential.
Red
2003 Château Gazin Pomerol France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
87 points
Odd. Very tight and young (I would have sworn it was 2008), sweet fruit, hint of candy but dry and thin at the same time.
