Beautiful bouquet with minerals and some bread dough. Same on the palate, slightly nutty flavors, fresh acidity. Good length. Really fine Champagne.
White - Sparkling
1999 Billecart-Salmon Champagne Cuvée Nicolas François Billecart France, Champagne

Beautiful again with crustacean, minerals, firm citrus and some bitterness in the finish. Perfectly dry.

Disgorged 3rd of March 2013. This is something really special with nutty flavors, caramel and butterscotch, minerals and beautiful citrus acidity. Oxidized style, but really complex and refined with an enormous length.

In the bouquet citrus, white fruits and chalky minerals. On the palate tight and focused with a lot of lemon and lime citrus, crustacean and other minerals. Very clean and a good length. Still very youthful. 89 – 90.

White
2006 Kongsgaard Chardonnay The Judge USA, California, Napa Valley
95 points
The color of the wine is still young with still an almost green hue. In the bouquet beautiful and ripe yellow tropical fruits, honey and a good dose of beautiful oak. On the palate ripe yellow and white tropical fruits, butterscotch and minerals. Beautiful and well integrated oak. Good and fresh acidity. Full bodied and also elegant. Enormous length. Great wine. Still enough future left.
White

Expressive bouquet with honey, caramel, butterscotch and spiciness. On the palate honey, spiciness, minerals, caramel, butterscotch, honey, hints of botrytis, some residual sugar, but also beautiful and fresh acidity. A beautiful and tasty wine with a great length.

2000 Domaine Armand Rousseau Père et Fils Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos St. Jacques France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
93 points
Beautifully mature and full bodied wine with mainly dark, but also some red forest fruits, earth, herbs and spices, autumn impressions, mushrooms, tobacco and beautifully integrated oak. Mild and fresh acidity and round tannin with still a good bite. In its maturity stage now, and it can last for another 5+ years as well.

1997 Fattoria Poggio di Sotto Brunello di Montalcino Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
96 points
Really beautiful and expressive bouquet with dark forest fruits, sweet spices, earth, autumn impressions and beautiful oak. Mature, but also still youthful. Just sniffing is almost enough! On the palate dark berries as well, sweet spices, earth, rustic, coffee, tobacco, forest floor. Beautiful and powerful acidity and tannin. At the peak of its mature life, but so much power left. This is a great, harmonious and complex wine. Will definitely drink lovely between now and 2019+. What a feast!

1986 Château Latour Grand Vin France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
92 points
In the bouquet mature cassis, earth, green impressions and some barnyard. On the palate dark fruits, green bell pepper, earth, rustic, luxurious oak and firm tannin, but not extremely great. Although this is a good wine, I must say this is probably the most disappointing Latour for me personally; certainly considering the quality of the vintage. Don't know what to think. I have a previous experience with another Bordeaux 1975 on which I gave up at a certain point, but 10 years later it showed lovely…. I don't own a bottle, but if I had any, I would probably keep it until 2025 at least. If it disappoints then as well, there is not much harm done. Nevertheless I score it 92 for tonight, because it is still a complex and beautiful wine, but for a Latour in a very good vintage you expect something extra. Maybe the wine is in a dumb phase?

1986 Joseph Phelps Insignia USA, California, Napa Valley
Really special wine and I am not sure what to think. In the bouquet a lot of barnyard impressions, mint, sweet spices and green herbs. On the palate juicy red and dark berries, chocolate and a lot of herbs again. Ok acidity and soft tannin and a good length, but something special as well which I cannot describe. Definitely fully mature and pleasurable in a way, but no score for tonight.

1975 Château Latour Grand Vin France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
94 points
Beautiful and classical bouquet with mature cassis and other dark forest fruits, cedar, beautiful oak and some pleasant barnyard. On the palate dark forest fruits, chocolate, rustic, beautiful oak, good acidity and tannin and a great length. A beautiful and classical wine, now at its peak and it can probably last for several years. (With Latour you never know for how long it can last….often much longer than expected…) For tonight 94

1977 Sterling Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve USA, California, Napa Valley
In the bouquet earth, rustic and barnyard flavors and also still some dark berries. On the palate sweet spices, celery and lovage, chocolate and earth. There is a good amount of acidity and soft tannin, but overall the wine is a bit too old. Still ok to drink, but no score.

2000 Château Gruaud Larose France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
93 points
The bouquet is really beautiful with dark forest fruits, some graphite, cedar, beautiful oak and a pleasant touch of barnyard. On the palate dark forest fruits, some bell pepper (which is not really disturbing), good acidity and powerful tannin and a great length. A really beautiful wine in its young maturity stage now. Around 2020 it will probably show its full potential. 93+ for tonight.

2000 Château Pontet-Canet France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
94 points
Beautiful and classical bouquet with dark forest fruits, graphite and beautiful well integrated oak. On the palate beautiful and ripe, juicy dark forest fruits, graphite, cedar, beautiful oak, firm but good acidity and good tannin. This wine is in its very young maturity stage now and already a great pleasure, but I think it will only improve over the next 3 – 5+ years from now. My score for tonight was 94+

Not so many notes about this wine. Beautiful bouquet with dark forest fruits and luxurious oak. On the palate dark berries, sweet spices, soft acidity and tannin. Very harmonious and lovely now. Completely ready now, but the tannin has enough bite for several years more.

In the bouquet dark forest fruits, coffee, tobacco, earth and beautiful luxurious oak. The same impressions on the palate. Very juicy dark berries, beautiful acidity and lovely round tannin with a good bite. Still very youthful, but surprisingly open for business already. 95 - 96 for tonight.

2005 Château Mouton Rothschild France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
97 points
Beautiful and classical wine with dark forest fruits and cassis, graphite, cedar and luxurious oak. The same impressions on the palate, licorice, luxurious and a beautiful balance between some pleasant sweetness and the acidity. Round and firm tannin. The wine was in the decanter for approx 5 hours and had opened up just a bit. Although showing some of its merits then, it is probably wise to wait until 2025 at least. Great and classical Pauillac. 96 – 97 for tonight.

2005 Lokoya Cabernet Sauvignon Mt. Veeder USA, California, Napa Valley, Mt. Veeder
99 points
Tasted this wine for the first time at the “Matter of Taste” tasting in London in February earlier this year and I was so impressed that I bought two bottles. Tonight I brought this to a dinner/tasting and I think it was the WOTN for everybody. The bouquet luxurious and lush with beautiful oak, beautifully ripe dark forest fruits and some mint. On the palate luxurious and lush as well with the same dark berries and perfectly integrated oak and cedar, licorice, sweet spices and chocolate. Beautiful acidity, round tannin with a pleasant and soft bite and a great length. A feast now and a long life ahead. Really beautiful and harmonious. Will try to save my last bottle for 2025 or later. 98 – 99
White - Off-dry
2003 Joh. Jos. Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese Lange Goldkapsel Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer
94 points
Not so many notes on this wine. It was of the beautiful and elegant Prüm style. In the bouquet minerals and some pleasantly stinky petrol. The same on the palate. Beautiful balance between acidity and sweetness and a good length. A beautiful and elegant wine.
White - Sweet/Dessert
2003 Château d'Yquem France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes
95 points
Last wine of the evening and it delivered. Beautiful bouquet with apricots and orange peel, honey and botrytis. The same impressions on the palate. Sorry; no more notes, but this is a great wine with a great length. 95+
