White
2001 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc Cuvée Roussanne Vieilles Vignes
92 points
Popped and poured. Deep golden color with amber hue. Nose of fine Manzanilla Sherry, salty, complex and deep. On the palate also very salty, again Manzanilla Sherry notes, very good balance, creamy texture, complex and logn. Unfortunately it lacks acidity and that makes it a bit broader and hot (13,5% abv). With a higher acidity close to great, this bottle around 92

2001 Château Rayas Châteauneuf-du-Pape Reserve
96 points
Popped and poured, drunk over two days. Perfect bottle. Clear, deep garnet color. Beautiful fine and elegant nose. Herbs de Provance, fine red fruit, dried petals, elegant, complex and fine.
Rayas is soo different from any othe C9dP. Elegant, balanced and harmonious. Never showing the 14% abv. Fine tannin, silky texture, salty mineral notes, ethereal herbs, some tobacco. Very long, salty and lingering. For me at its full peak. Wonderful! 96

Red
2001 Domaine Charvin Châteauneuf-du-Pape
92 points
Popped and poured. Deep garnet color. Some brett. Grenache driven, sweet liquor fruit, but also fresh and polished. No rough edges, quite polished. Good length. Very good, but not exciting. 92

Red
2001 Domaine de la Mordorée Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée de la Reine des Bois
94 points
Popped and poured. Deep garnet color. Deep, complex, sweet cherry and garrigue driven nose. On the palate rather polished. 14,5%, lots of Grenache sweetness, Cherry, garrigue, herbs. Very fine and firm tannin. If drunk at 14 degree, it is not hot and beautiful balanced. If it gets warmer, you can feel the heat, despite the high acidity. Very long and creamy. Certainly very good and close to great. 94-95

Red
2001 Le Clos du Caillou Châteauneuf-du-Pape Reserve le Clos du Caillou
95 points
Popped and poured. I was so curious to see, if there is a step up from the Quartz. Oh yessss, there is. The Reserve is way more elegant and fresh! Deep garnet color. Beautiful deep nose with tar, tobacco and dried petals. On the palate such a joy to drink. Describing it as: Rayas with more power fits quite well! Way more elegant and lean, besides it has also 14,5%, which are beautifully masked. Fresh, wonderful tannin structure and texture. Salty mineral core. Great pressure, depth and tension. Long, lingering finish. Still some upscale potential, but it is really beautiful right now. 95-96

Rustic on the palate as well, but very exciting, deep and fresh. Not too hot with its 13,5% abv. Wonderful ethereal and balsamic notes, very vital and long. 92-93 Always a safe bet!

2001 Domaine Pierre Usseglio & Fils Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée de mon Aïeul
94 points
Popped and poured. Deep garnet color. Nose with lots of concentrated, fresh red fruit, graphite, tar. Very dense and deep.
On the palate fresh and young, fine tannin, beautiful texture and stylistically a bit different from the other wines we had this evening. Some freaky notes, that I could not grasp. Very long. Beautiful wine at its full peal. 93-94

2008 Bollinger Champagne La Grande Année
94 points
Drunk right after the 2004 RD. The 2008 to me is finer and more elegant. Very young, almost too young, but also lovely already. Not as bone dry as the RD, a bit sweeter. But also with great pressure and tension and a wonderful fine Mousseux, fine citrus, apple notes and a very good length. I really like it!
