White - Sparkling
2002 Bollinger Champagne La Grande Année France, Champagne
95 points
This is getting close qualitatively to my memory of the 1996 Grande Annee, and the best bottle of this champagne so far. There were surprisingly few bubbles, although there was an effervescence to the palate. Rich while also harmonious and vibrant. Apple and pear with baked bread.

White - Sparkling
2006 Taittinger Champagne Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut France, Champagne
94 points
Serving this after 2002 Bollinger Grande Annee was probably the wrong order here. The Comte was much fresher and boisterous, less rich. Creamy, toasty brioche, floral.

Flight 2 (4 notes)

White
2018 Vincent Dauvissat (René & Vincent) Petit Chablis France, Burgundy, Chablis, Petit Chablis
92 points
The nose is texbook chablis with minerality and salinity. The palate is fruitier than a typical chablis, with canteloupe and peach.
White
2015 Maison Leroy Bourgogne Blanc France, Burgundy, Bourgogne Blanc
93 points
More impressive than a bottle 2 years ago. It's hard for me to describe this chardonnay because it is well integrated and suave, kind of everything you want in a chardonnay, just a bit understated. Lively, rich and round, but mostly elegant.

2016 Bodega Catena Zapata Chardonnay White Bones Adrianna Vineyard Gualtallary Argentina, Mendoza, Valle de Uco, Gualtallary
94 points
There is a briny funky minerality to this wine that is awesome. It reminds me of a Fevre Bougros in that way. But the palate is not chablis at all, although it is a restrained chardonnay with lime and white flowers.
White
2015 Paul Hobbs Chardonnay Ellen Lane Estate USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley
As nice as this was, it was clearly the odd man out in our chardonnay lineup. More full bodied, apple, pear, peach, butterscotch and oaky spice.

Red
2007 St. Innocent Pinot Noir White Rose Vineyard USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley
92 points
I had a small pour in front of me for about 45 minutes. The flavor was deeper with earthy ash and the fruit was not very fresh. I was hoping to follow this and see if it improved but I was unable to do so. So my score reflects the 45 minutes it was in front of me, which was still a very nuanced, tertiary and evolved pinot.

Red
2000 Château Léoville Barton France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
92 points
3 hour decant, its interesting that a bottle 8 months ago was a pop and pour and was showing better than this. The palate has firm tannin, it seems to be keeping its cards close right now, not revealing much.

2006 Viña Almaviva S.A. Almaviva Chile, Maipo Valley, Puente Alto

This was my wine and meant to be decanted 1+ hours but ended up only about 20 minutes. Nonetheless, it seemed to be drinking very well. There is an elegance and balance to this wine that is impressive, with red to blue fruit. Tannins are silky. This drank like a well-aged traditional wine, it did not have much in common with bordeaux, too polished.
Red
2011 Château La Vieille Forge France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Lalande de Pomerol
Decanted a short time, drank a glass over an hour. This wine was quite tannic and the fruit was insufficient. It seems a bit out of balance, and I wouldn't bet on it ever evolving into a balanced wine.
Red
2013 Bevan Cellars Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard USA, California, Napa Valley
93 points
See MN Wine Junkie for treatment. Powerful, fruity liqueur, really tasty but kind of cloying. Lots of fruit, maybe too much, earth.

See MN Wine Junkie for treatment. Like all Harlan wines, there is a voluptuous softness to this wine that washes over you as you drink it. Red fruit with very relaxed tannins, a dollop of acid, vanilla and spice.

White - Sweet/Dessert
1989 Château Suduiraut France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes
93 points
Pop and pour. Definitely mature given the color and the complexity. Classic aged Sauternes. Orange rind, baking spices, good acidity. There is a bit of alcohol noted.
