First off: ratings and scores are bullshit so no "score" on this one. Are we all drinking the same wine? Give me a break. I've been in retail and wholesale wine for 20 years and I can assure you the same wine from the same vintage transported in the same way can and will taste different on different days. Biodynamic calendar in play? Who knows? I've had a bag of 10 wines that tasted great on a leaf day. All I know is this stuff is alive and it tastes different from day to day.

"There are no great wines, only great bottles of wines."

On to the wine. This is why we pay for going up the hill in the Cote d'Or. More sunshine, better drainage. Unfortunately the prices for Gevrey-Chambertin are out of whack (ye old supply and demand or is it greed and catch up?).

2012 was a difficult vintage but I guess all's well that ends well. My bottle was ready to drink upon opening. Pronounced aromatics of dark red fruit with earthy notes. Gevrey ripeness is at play here. Very rare to find this one the lesser wines down the hill; however, the fruit is brighter on the palate (acidity is alive and kicking. I would not decant), but the bing cherry lingers on and on. Ah Burgundy, who do I love thee? Let count the ways.

Neal Rosenthal (importer) rarely lets me down, it's always just a matter of price. I don't know this producer, you can look it up on Neal's exhausting website Madrose.com

Another lovely 2018. I prefer them fresh but I'm sure I this was a little premature in opening this (better than over the hill). Vibrant crunchy red fruit. Surprisingly, this did not hold up over night (after using gas and keeping it at 60).

Wow, what a value. Perfect ripeness (not too lean), but balanced with acidity. Plush (still fresh) red fruits kept in check by fine tannins on the finish.

Fresh and lovely. I guess it's ready to go right now. Not a big wine but what do you expect for $47.50. I'm afraid that just doesn't buy a lot of Burgundy anymore.

In a lovely spot right now, I'm glad I didn't wait another few years - it's not worth the risk, it might lose it's vibrant quality. I would not decant, the last 8oz did not make it the following night (I had no help in finishing the bottle).

Fresh red fruit and perfect balance. Exactly what I was hoping for from this well known Beaune.

There is no way we are tasting the same wine - this is over the hill for sure. However, I’ve been in the wine biz (retail and wholesale) for over 20 years and we taste and consume a lot of young wine in the industry (so we’re biased). Nevertheless, this is not exciting, and this has been at 60 degrees and purchased from a reputable wine merchant. It’s offers a lot of boquet and some enticing front end but it fades quickly.

I don’t subscribe to any publications but it’s safe to say the drinking window on this app is incorrect (2025-2075?). If you like old wine drink now, if you like wine in it’s prime (or young and fresh), like me, you might too late. The cork was a bit dry eventhough it’s been horizontal all this time (and I bought this before it ever went to the floor when I was a retail wine buyer), so maybe it was compromised prior to purchasing. At any rate, it’s barely alive and I just poured a 2000 down the sink last night. Apparently D’Issan is an early drinker. This bottle is decidedly dull.

Cork was moldy and fell right thru into the wine. Another old wine bites the dust...

Wow. I finally opened up one of these Rosenthal (importer) Red Burgs that was ready to drink, and it sang all night (it did not sing the next day but I didn't use any gas). I don't know much about Georges Lignier but I'll buy anything Neal Rosenthal imports.

FYI: there was mold on the top of the cork if you are allergic. So I opened it up ASAP and threw away the cork.

Disappointing, especially for the vintage. Maybe it's in a dumb phase but it was decidedly lackluster. I'm having doubts this producer is making wine for aging.

I was expecting this to be over the hill and I neglected to stand it up over night. Amazingly, this was still very good (albeit past its prime, like most of us:), and there was no sediment. It was not decanted and consumed over an hour, it did not fall apart.

Holy cow, Bordeaux ain’t got nothing on this! This may have a longer life in store but it’s singing now. Perfectly balanced. Paul Draper gets another home run.

Every bottle is different to begin with, and then there's various points of storage in a bottle's life that result in even more variation, but this was a "Drink Now and Don't Decant" bottle for me (and it came straight from the producer to an importer/distributor and then straight to me and stayed at 60 degrees until consumed).

Classic Nebbiolo/Barolo aromatics - like dried flowers. This producer is not known for consistency but this was a good old school Barolo. It really came to life with some pizza!

WAY over the hill. Smelled and tasted like Port. Don’t wait for those special occasions that never happen - drink wine young!

The drinking window on this is probably right, this is slightly over the hill. Oxidative nose, very soft tannins, but it’s still Brovia and it’s still good. Drink now.

Hold on to this, this is a high acid vintage and this is a 1er Cru. Not some trophy wine but give it another 5 years, easy. And make sure you have some rich high fat food to go with it. This is sharp. But the fruit is there.

If you can't wait this is delightful right now, especially with a bit of air. Nice weight, not as light as the vintage was rumored to be, but still, this is no long term heavy weight. Nevertheless, 5 more years should be no problem for this Beaune. Wish I had more.

I took care of this bottle but waited for that special occasion that never came along. All bouquet, not a lot going on otherwise. Definitely over the hill. Maybe it was not treated right before I got it.

Drinking great right now. Refined tannins, high toned fruit (cassis), a classic boquet that only comes from Bordeaux. Threw a bit of sediment but not enough to worry about (if it stood upright for a night it wouldn’t hurt).

Based on my only bottle of this I would drink this now. Or, if you have more than one check it out and see where your stash is at. Mine was more than ready, mostly bouquet and not very exciting until I paired it with Filet Mignon. Then it got up on it's hind legs!

Singing! I would drink this now, it's in a great spot. True old school Rioja (American oak), without Garnacha. Beautiful stuff.

Either my recent bottle was exposed to some mild heat or this is a "drink now" selection at this point. But oh, the aroma is ethereal. Old school Rioja.

Paired this with traditional Thanksgiving meal and it came off as too light and too tart. I think this wine needs some serious animal fat to check the acidity. Lamb chops maybe.

This wine either went south on me or I had a bad bottle. Over evolved, raisny, over ripe, hot. I loved this wine in 2012. Another case is point for drinking wine while it's young.

This went from tight to over ripe in a few years. Must have been a hot vintage for Bandol, this clocks in at 15%. I still got lovely hints of cassis and it's quite delicious, but I much prefer the '06. Too rich for me.

Drink Now, tannins are resolved. I wish I had opened this several years ago, but it was still delicious, albeit a bit soft for a Bandol. Pretty violets on the nose (with a bit of ethyl acetate unfortunately).

I know this is not a great vintage for red Burgundy, but perhaps the same goes for the whites, but either way, this wine is tight and wound up. I would definitely wait or decant. Closed and reticent, but there is potential. That signature lemony finish is there, and the mineral and the texture, but the wine is just holding back at this point. Best to wait.

A Total Wine direct import (like most wines at Total Wine). For the price it's an enjoyable drink, and this was a vintage of high temperatures so it's ready to drink. So open knit and fleshy, I didn't find it intriguing. Maybe some more time will do it good, let all that fruit settle down.

Good value, if I lived near a Total Wine I would go back and buy more of this. I just took a guess based on the 2010 vintage and the price. Very pretty, all the vibrant red fruit one would want but with a lingering, darker more serious note on the finish. Ready to drink but who knows, if you forgot about this one it might lead to some surprises. But I like the freshness in the aroma at this stage.

Direct import from the chain Total Wine. Noticeable SO2 on the nose so I double decanted it until it seemed to give up in general. No great shakes. I guess it was fair for the price, considering what the price for Burgundy these days. I wouldn't buy it again, obviously.

In a perfect spot right now - very aromatic - only Bordeaux has this kind of nose. Tannins are resolved and the structure is taut and firm without being hard or oaky. High toned blue fruits, cassis, a touch of fresh coffee bean. Ethereal.
I'm glad I have two more bottles but if you got a case this is good time to start drinking it.

I'm sure this has more time to go but damn, it was drinking great when I popped it (last week). High toned, with incredible acid - this couldn't be further from California "meritage" or what have you. Impeccable balance, in a great spot right now (or at least my bottel was...).

When I first tasted this wine several years ago I thought it this just needed time for the flashy new oak treatment to resolve but now that this wine is 10 years after vintage I have to say that I just don't like this wine. It's a textbook example of why consultants like Michel Rolland are over manipulating Bordeaux to a point where its losing its soul. Now I like a good, tasty modern St. Emilion as much as the next guy but this wine is just over oaked and just doesn't remind me of Bordeaux. My bottle, at this point in its life, was just not polished (which I found surprising). I received this wine during a cold month via Wine Exchange and I've had it in my cellar ever since. Count me on the next round.

Beautiful, all that I was hoping for. Great stage to drink right now - but I should have left it standing for 24 hours, there was a good bit of sediment. Very aromatic, all the floral notes you want from a Barolo. Great structure yet very delicate. I did not decant and I wouldn't, unless you need to get the sediment out.
