10/25/23, 9:37 AM - Good question. I did give it about two hours in the glass while I was cooking and then enjoyed it over the next two hours. It didn't really move much or open up during that time.
10/25/23, 1:26 PM - It's seventeen years out. If you've got more than one left, I'd say pull a cork. I'm glad to be an enabler for you. I still have another left. Enjoy!
4/15/23, 5:25 AM - Thank you!
1/28/23, 9:59 AM - Yes, it wouldn't hurt to decant this for a couple of hours.
9/9/22, 7:17 AM - I’m a big fan of this producer. I didn’t think this was balanced. About the green, I was super sensitive to the 2004s and I’ve found some unpleasant tones in the 2011s (like Bertheau’s Charmes). If I found all the 2008s to be like this, it might not be fair, but I’ve had excellent bottles from Dujac, Mugneret-Gibourg, Bouchard, Faiveley and others. This was a disappointment. I wanted to love it, trust me.
9/7/22, 5:31 AM - I thought it was in a good place and in it's drinking window. It's twelve years out and ready for enjoyment. I've still got a few bottles for down the road.
5/7/22, 6:05 AM - Thanks!
10/28/20, 5:58 PM - Thanks. I like Tuli too. More pinosity.
10/6/20, 6:19 PM - You could be right. This wasn't out of my cellar, so I don't have a purchase note. It has been a while, but my guess/recollection is Total Wine. I only buy daily drinkers at two stores.
4/11/20, 7:20 AM - Thanks! I’m a fan of Stag’s Leap too. My CT note says I paid $90 for this. I recall the next vintage they moved the price to $120. So I drooped off. So unfortunately, no, I haven’t tried any other vintages. I can find lots of great Napa cab for $90 or less, so no regrets.
4/11/20, 4:40 PM - I’ve been meaning to try Drinkward. I like Outpost too. If you like Outpost, you might also like Rivers-Marie. My wait on the list was very short. Myriad is excellent too. I also enjoy Shafer 1.5.
2/24/20, 5:57 PM - We both have good taste in wine! This is better than the Aviary in my opinion.
11/17/19, 6:55 PM - srh - Thank you. Agreed. I’m sure they are laughing all the way to the bank.
5/21/17, 6:56 PM - I actually haven't tried the 2008, so I can't say. I just checked and I also scored the 2006 a 91. I have the 2009 too.
1/11/17, 7:36 AM - I have opened another since I posted this note - in July 2016. I followed the first one for a long time, but it did take a few hours to open up. If it were me, I'd probably give this 3-4 hours of air. I hope this helps and I hope you enjoy the wine.
4/17/16, 5:47 PM - Thank you! This was a good drop. I'm looking forward to the next one down the road.
1/2/16, 1:30 PM - I didn't think so, else I have no problem marking it as such. I am a tough grader, but scored per the scale.
11/29/14, 7:02 AM - I considered marking it as flawed, but other notes referenced some of the same notes of leather and funk. Trust me, I wanted to love my own, long stored wine. It just wasn't a very good bottle. There are only good bottles as they say. Sometimes there are only bad bottles too.
11/21/14, 12:22 PM - I enjoyed this from the minute it was unplugged. I tracked it for so long because I was concerned about the 2004 issue of the wines turning green with 30-45 minutes of air. The flavor profile was somewhat elusive over the span of consumption, but not really better or worse, just evolving, which I found interesting. - My first from MI. I did not know what to expect, nonetheless, I was impressed. I understand the winemaker is shooting for a finessed, non interventionist wine and I think that is reflected in this wine. I hope you enjoy it too.
10/31/14, 9:56 AM - It's my wine and was bought on release, trust me, I wanted to like it. I know these need some time (it's 10 years out), but with the fruit already gone, how does it get better? Wines die from the inside out and the heart of this particular bottle is on life support. I have another and if it's substantially better, I'll report. I probably won't hold on to it too long.
8/2/13, 1:48 PM - I enjoyed this bottle quite a bit. My wife even more. I'm tough grader and take the scale literally. In my last few notes I've give out a 79, 80 and an 84. This is drinking my own stash. Burgundy is no bargain. I love them and sometimes I find I score them soft and I think, "To be honest, if this were a Napa cab, I'd trash this sourish thing." But I love them and the good ones, which I have more than the bad since I've stuck to certain producers, are more often the case. See my recent note on a 2008 Dujac Chambolle. I paid about $60 for it on sale and this H-N was $42. Not cheap, but the good ones take me to heights other regions don't let me visit. You're chasing the dragon in Burgundy.I hope you enjoy yours when you get to it. Thanks for commenting.
7/3/13, 8:29 PM - Hi WS. Good question. Sorry, I usually comment on this. I let this breathe in the stem for three hours. Split with Mrs. Swade, I'm sipping the last sip another three hours later. Consistent over that span, and if anything, slightly more clenched and incrementally more dry here at the dregs. This has a patch of sediment at the neck. I hope this helps.
6/25/13, 8:06 AM - Hi Frank. No, not at all (and I'm sensitive to it). I was looking for it based upon your earlier note. It was clean and excellent. I actually picked this up to try it based upon your last note and the WB thread. Thank you for the recommendation.
Thanks for letting us know about this problem. We will review your comments and be in touch soon with an update.
